Dr Disrespect, whose real name is Guy Beahm, has recently made headlines with his transition to the burgeoning streaming platform Rumble, where he will take the lead in its Gaming section. This announcement has sparked a flurry of reactions among his fan base, generating both excitement and discontent.
On November 25th, after several weeks of speculation, Dr Disrespect confirmed his partnership with Rumble, which includes equity and performance-based milestones as part of his compensation package. Rumble has been gaining attention lately for its pioneering election night coverage, which even outperformed Kick in terms of peak viewership.
Mixed Reactions from Fans Following Rumble Announcement
The reaction from Dr Disrespect’s community has been decidedly mixed. While some fans welcomed the change, arguing that they were excited for what Rumble has to offer, others voiced their disapproval, insisting that YouTube remains the superior platform for his content. Critics have pointed out that Rumble has been banned in several countries, including Brazil, due to stringent content regulations.
Among the dissenting voices, one user remarked, “Rumble is not it. See you around, Champs!” expressing dissatisfaction with the switch. Another fan indicated their reluctance, stating, “I subscribe to YouTube Family since there is so much there. I can’t subscribe to Rumble for $10 a month just to watch you. Sorry Doc, I’ve been a member for years, but I can’t do this.”
Some followers voiced their intent to continue supporting Dr Disrespect, with one writing on Reddit, “I will be doing my best to watch, but if he doesn’t multi-stream then f**k, it was a good 5 years.” Meanwhile, another fan lamented, “This is the end of the line for me more than likely. Things have been off pretty much since the allegations, but they will never go back to how they were.”
Supportive Fans Embrace Dr Disrespect’s Move to Rumble
Conversely, a significant number of loyal followers have rallied around Dr Disrespect’s new venture. Supporters celebrated the announcement, with one declaring, “It’s time to Make Gaming Great Again! Congrats Doc!” Another enthusiastic fan chimed in, “I’ve already got a leather seat with my name on it, right there on the front row of the arena.”
Streamer Arctix expressed enthusiasm for the transition, stating, “Change always feels different, but I have full confidence in the Champions Club & their ability to be part of this new, powerful, important movement on Rumble. This is ONLY the beginning.” Others echoed the sentiment, with one commenter asserting, “No matter where Doc goes, the Champs will be there! I’m ready to rumble!”
From a business perspective, Rumble seems to be benefiting from this switch, as reports from Bloomberg indicate that the platform’s stock surged by 17% following the announcement of Dr Disrespect’s signing.
Dr Disrespect’s departure from YouTube comes after his channel was demonetized due to past interactions he had with an underage individual on Twitch, which led to a permanent ban from the platform in 2020. He has since argued that the messages were misconstrued and claimed that Twitch staff had a personal vendetta against him.
In his announcement on X, Doc stated that Rumble embodies the values he aligns with, criticizing Twitch for perpetuating “a false, exaggerated narrative about something from almost a decade ago.” His inaugural broadcast on Rumble is slated for December 2nd, and as of now, he has already garnered 17.7K followers on his new channel.
