Dr Disrespect’s Game NFT Prices Plummet After Dismissal by Midnight Society

The price of Midnight Society’s Founders Pass NFT has decreased by $250 following the studio’s decision to end their association with Dr Disrespect. Some are now being sold for as little as $45.

Midnight Society, the studio co-founded by Dr Disrespect (real name Guy Beahm) to launch the game DEADROP, terminated their partnership with the streamer on June 24. This decision came after allegations surfaced that he had been sending inappropriate messages to minors, prior to his controversial ban from Twitch in 2020.

On June 25, Beahm acknowledged the allegations, however, he maintained that there was “no wrongdoing”and that the messages were simply “casual, mutual conversations.”He also spoke about his departure from Midnight Society, describing it as a “difficult choice”to step down, but he did not want to compromise the studio’s culture.

Despite the studio’s efforts to keep it alive, several players have chosen to leave the DEADROP title, citing Doc’s departure as the reason for its downfall.

Furthermore, according to OpenSea, the Midnight Society Founders Pass NFT has experienced a significant decrease in price, with a drop of almost $300 in sales. The most recent sale was at 0.0133 ETH, equivalent to $44.85 or £35.42.

Prior to this, there were sales at approximately $400, with one item even being sold for $1,178. Many tickets have been put up for sale in the aftermath, but some unsold ones are priced above $100 as players try to regain some of their initial investment.

The price of the Founders Pass NFTs has dropped dramatically.

The passes granted players access to the ‘snapshot’ versions of DEADROP builds and provided them with exclusive ‘Variant’ characters, profile photos, and the ability to vote on game features.

During the meet-and-greet events with the studio, Beahm attended dressed as his character Dr Disrespect. Pass holders were given the opportunity to play against him on the latest dev builds of the game.

Beahm has announced that he will resume streaming after his extended vacation, but he will not be involved with DEADROP any longer.
