Dragon Age: The Veilguard VA hints returning character may finally be romanceable

At San Diego Comic-Con, Erika Ishii caused a stir when she kissed a poster featuring every romanceable character from Dragon Age: The Veilguard, including a surprising fan favorite.

Erika Ishii is one of the American voice actors for Rook, the protagonist in Dragon Age: The Veilguard.

The latest installment of Dragon Age ensures a mix of both familiar and new characters, such as the treasured Scout Harding, the enigmatic Grey Warden Davrin, and the mysterious Veil Jumper Bellara, among others.

At San Diego Comic-Con, Ishii surprised and excited Dragon Age fans by introducing a kiss between a familiar character and one of the expected romance options. This news caused a stir on Reddit.

Out of all the romanceable companions, Ishii chose to share a kiss with Varric, the cherished, burly dwarf with a hairy chest.

Despite being a beloved character in both Dragon Age 2 and Inquisition, Varric’s fans were never able to romance him. However, it appears that they will finally have the opportunity to do so now.

The community quickly caught on to the moment, leading to speculation about its significance.

During the discussion, one player pointed out, “I couldn’t help but notice that little kiss to Varric,”while another eagerly stated, “I have been eagerly anticipating getting lost in that chest hair for 13 years.”

Nevertheless, some fans were quick to note that Ishii had also kissed Manfred, the skeleton, who is not a love interest. This could imply that the kiss with Varric was simply a lighthearted joke.

This led one player to caution, “I sincerely hope you’re not joking about the kiss to Varric, as the entire fandom might be devastated when the game is released.”

BioWare has announced that Dragon Age: The Veilguard will be released in Fall 2024, however, a specific date has not yet been confirmed.

This upcoming iteration offers a plethora of romantic options, though it remains uncertain if Varric will finally become one of them. In the meantime, fans can rejoice in the fact that they will not be required to use EA launchers in order to play the game.
