On Tuesday, September 24, 2024, Toei Animation began streaming a new English dubbed trailer for Dragon Ball Daima, alongside announcing theatrical screening dates for the dub. In the United States, fans can catch the first three English dubbed episodes from Sunday, November 10, to Tuesday, November 12, 2024.

This marks the world premiere of the English dub for Dragon Ball Daima, confirming that fans eager for the English version will have to wait a bit longer. The series will premiere in Japan, featuring the original Japanese audio, on Friday, October 11, 2024, at 11:40 PM Japanese Standard Time (JST).

Dragon Ball Daima English Trailer Highlights Stephanie Nadolny as Goku

The English dubbed trailer prominently showcases dialogue from the anime’s new villains and characters, with the notable return of Stephanie Nadolny as Son Goku. Nadolny previously voiced young Goku in the original Dragon Ball series and Dragon Ball Z, as well as Young/Teen Gohan. As of now, it remains uncertain whether she will reprise her role as Gohan in the new series.

The world premiere of the anime will take place at Dragon Ball Daimatsuri, with “Daima”combined with “matsuri,”which means festival. This event is scheduled for Sunday, October 6, at Tokyo Big Sight. Three screenings of the first episode are set for 10 AM, 2:15 PM, and 6 PM JST, with cast members attending the first two screenings. The event celebrates the 40th anniversary of the Dragon Ball series and is free, although tickets must be obtained through a lottery system.

The series directors are Yoshitaka Yashima and Aya Komaki, while Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru is adapting the late Akira Toriyama‘s character designs for animation. Yuuko Kakihara is overseeing and scripting the series. Toriyama, the creator of the franchise, is credited with the new anime’s story and character designs.

Zedd featuring C&K (CLIEVY and KEEN) will perform the opening theme song, “Jaka Jaan.” Meanwhile, Zedd featuring Ai contributes the ending theme song, “Nakama,” which means companions. Zedd composed the ending theme specifically for the anime, with singer-songwriter Ai providing the lyrics.

The plot of Dragon Ball Daima revolves around Goku, Vegeta, Bulma, and other beloved characters reverting to their younger forms thanks to the titular Dragon Balls and the introduction of new demon antagonists. While the storyline bears some resemblance to Dragon Ball GT, it offers a distinct narrative.

The term “Daima” itself does not translate to a specific meaning; however, the kanji can be interpreted in English as “evil,”possibly alluding to the new demon clan antagonists. This series is set to be Toriyama’s final project within the franchise following his passing in March 2024 at age 68 due to an acute subdural hematoma caused by a blood clot in his brain.
