Dragon Ball Super Gallery Project’s Next Cover: Toyotaro’s Most Emotional Yet

The upcoming cover for Dragon Ball Super Gallery project has been announced to be created by Toyotaro, who is the successor to Akira Toriyama. This project showcases various talented mangaka’s interpretations of the original manga from the 80s and early 90s. Given Toyotaro’s position as Toriyama’s successor and the first cover since Toriyama’s passing in March, it is fitting for him to be the next artist on the list.

This further solidifies the announcement that the Dragon Ball Super manga will resume in May following a brief hiatus. This decision is understandable considering the passing of the esteemed author and the need for all involved to grieve. Although there is minimal information on the direction of the manga, indications point towards Toyotaro taking on the series independently from now on, although this is currently only speculation.

Please be aware that this article contains spoilers for the series.

Next Mangaka for Dragon Ball Super Gallery Project: Toyotaro

Confirmation has been received that Toyotaro will be contributing a cover to the gallery project, which features prominent authors creating their own versions of Akira Toriyama’s covers for the original manga. The project was launched in 2021 to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the beloved franchise, and this cover will be the first one created since the passing of the mangaka on March 1.

The upcoming issue of Saikyo Jump, #7, will feature the latest cover, although there is currently no information on its content. This cover is particularly significant as Toyotaro, who was mentored by Toriyama, now carries on his legacy as the manga’s successor. It is expected to hold a strong emotional element in tribute to Toriyama.

The anime and manga industry suffered a major loss with the passing of Akira Toriyama, given the tremendous impact the author had. This was evident in the numerous tributes following the news of his death, with presidents paying their respects and people in Latin America gathering in plazas to raise their hands in tribute to Toriyama’s legacy, reminiscent of Goku’s iconic Genkidama move.

For some time, there has been speculation about the future of the Dragon Ball Super manga. However, it has now been officially announced that Toyotaro will be leading the production. This decision did not come as a surprise to many fans, as Toyotaro has been working closely with Toriyama and has successfully replicated his art style over the years.

The manga will definitely resume in May and the plot will continue from that point onwards.
