Dune: Awakening aims to be an ambitious open-world survival MMO, drawing inspiration from both the films and books in the Dune franchise. Funcom promises an adventure where players will have to manage the complex political interactions between factions, while surviving the unforgiving world of Arrakis.
Developed with Unreal Engine 5, the developers are preparing to introduce a vast world filled with secrets, dynamic mechanics, and visually stunning creatures hiding in the sand-filled environment.

Dune: Awakening promises to combine the creativity of a sandbox survival game with the persistent multiplayer gameplay features found in any open-world MMO.
Players will have to create their own identity and evolve their characters while choosing factions that will give them specialized abilities. Starting on Arrakis, they will have to explore the immense universe of Dune, forming alliances and attempting to defeat classic enemies as seen in the films and books.
However, fighting enemies or exploring the map isn’t the only thing to do in Dune: Awakening. Characters will have to search for water, craft precious items, and develop their shelters into fortresses to survive the cruel environment of Arrakis.
If enemies come knocking at the doors of your establishment, you can then engage in third-person combat, and use all the weapons at your disposal, as well as plan strategies between infantry, ground vehicles and air.
