Dwayne Johnson’s Controversial Christmas Movie Shoot

Dwayne Johnson’s Controversial Christmas Movie Shoot

Despite being a beloved actor, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has faced criticism for his reported behavior on the set of a holiday film, which has been described as “disastrous.”According to insiders, these issues have led to a significant increase in the production’s budget.

Numerous individuals who were directly involved in the production of the lively action-comedy Red One spoke with TheWrap, with several of them asserting that The Rock often arrived up to eight hours after the scheduled time to film scenes.

According to one source, Dwayne’s only consistent behavior was being habitually late, while another individual stated, “Dwayne really couldn’t care less.”

Based on information from the report, it was revealed that Johnson’s tardiness caused a delay of seven to eight hours per day and occasionally resulted in him missing entire days of filming. This resulted in an additional $50 million being added to the already extensive budget.

Despite the estimated production costs of $250 million, the Amazon MGM movie is already facing challenges. According to an insider, there were days when the lead actor did not show up, causing major disruptions and forcing the crew to film scenes without him. This has led to negative sentiments, with one insider even describing it as a “disaster.”

TheWrap then delved into previous grievances, including one that Johnson himself admitted to – when he needs to relieve himself on set, he uses an empty Voss water bottle. However, in 2021, a crew member publicly called him out on Instagram, stating, “Don’t expect the PA’s to clean up after you.”

Despite these allegations, none of the Red One insiders reported Johnson’s alleged habit of urinating on set. Two individuals even stated that Johnson had never requested a production assistant to dispose of his urine during filming. Additionally, a representative for Amazon MGM refuted any claims of on-set conflicts with Red One.

“As reported by the outlet, Dwayne Johnson and Seven Bucks have been fantastic collaborators on the upcoming film Red One, which is sure to be a hit with audiences of all ages during the holiday season.”

“Our testing has been incredibly successful, as evidenced by the positive response at CinemaCon. We owe a great deal of thanks to Dwayne for his unwavering dedication and support. Any claims that suggest he consistently arrived hours late to set are absurd and completely untrue.”

However, the evidence contradicts this. Despite beginning production in 2022 and initially scheduled for a December 2023 release, Red One was ultimately pushed back to November of this year. During CinemaCon, Amazon MGM presented a sneak peek to a select group of journalists, who were bound by confidentiality and unable to share their observations.

Moreover, it is highly uncommon for a movie of this kind to allocate $250 million solely for production costs. Typically, such a large sum would be reserved for blockbuster Marvel or DC films.

Despite this, Red One continues to make progress, as Johnson has joined a star-studded cast including Chris Evans, Lucy Liu, and J.K. Simmons. The film follows the journey of a villain who abducts Santa Claus from the North Pole, prompting an E.L.F. (Extremely Large and Formidable) agent to team up with a skilled tracker in order to locate him and rescue Christmas.

The movie Red One will be released in theaters on November 15, 2024. Additional options for streaming movies this month can be found here.
