Dyson’s newest headphones ditch controversial air purifying features

Dyson has recently revealed its second set of headphones, which not only come with a hefty price tag but also include some questionable accessories.

Despite having a successful vacuum empire, Dyson’s headsets have not been received as positively. The initial release of their first-ever headset, the Dyson Zone, was criticized by Marques Brownlee for its air purifier feature and heavy weight.

Dyson’s latest venture into the headset market comes in the form of the OnTrac headphones, their second attempt. Unlike their previous attempt, the OnTrac focuses on functionality rather than gimmicks, but its price and included accessories have already caught attention.

According to an article by The Verge, the OnTrac headphones offer customizable outer ear cups that can be removed and replaced. These ear cups come in a variety of colors, including metallic and matte options, but purchasing additional pairs will add an extra cost of $49.99.

Despite the initial cost of $500, which may seem high for a pair of headphones solely designed for music, the added accessories of the Dyson OnTrac only add to their perceived value.

Despite being disappointed by the high $500 MSRP and cost of accessories, Brownlee still shared a set of images of the headset.

According to Dyson, there are more than 2,000 possible customization combinations for the outer cups, as well as replaceable ear cushions that can be bought separately.

The interchangeable accessories can be seen as an improvement compared to the uncomfortable design decisions made for the Dyson Zone headset.

The headset boasts 40mm drivers and an eight-microphone system for its ANC technology. In terms of active noise-canceling capabilities, it surpasses others with an impressive battery life of up to 55 hours.

Despite any differences in pricing or included accessories, the Dyson OnTrac is still poised to make a significant impact on the highly competitive market for headphones.
