EA FC 24 players are calling the game “finished” after a massive bug gave almost everyone a free Lionel Messi TOTY card.
The EA FC 24 Team of the Year promo is in full swing, and for the first time in the game’s history, it even includes a female TOTY.
As usual, players rushed to try and obtain these TOTY cards in order to have the best team possible. Some have saved their packs for months, accumulating hundreds in hopes of landing these special cards.
However, on January 30, almost every player ended up with the TOTY 97-rated Messi card in an 86+ TOTY Leagues SBC, leading many fans to claim that the game is now “finished.”
EA “ruined” EA FC 24 with free Messi TOTY bug
As the community rushed to complete the SBC in hopes of obtaining the TOTY Eighth Golden Ball, the developers quickly disabled the SBC completely.
“We have identified an issue with the TOTY Leagues 86+ SBC, as a result we have disabled the SBC,” they wrote in a post on Twitter/X.

However, according to much of the FC 24 community, the damage has already been done, as many players claim that Ultimate Team is now “ruined.”
FC 24 content creator Nepenthez is among its many frustrated players. “Yeah, the problem is you just ruined the game,” he wrote. “Messi TOTY free for everyone in my opinion.”

According to some, every opponent they have faced since the SBC bug had Messi’s TOTY card on their team, supporting claims that the game is now over.
“Every person I faced in Rivals tonight had Messi TOTY and not me. EA ruined this game and made it even more shitty because they are stupid,” says one fan.

The TOTY promo has already been quite criticized for various reasons. Players particularly had problems with the “ridiculous” prices of the cards or the contents of the packs in the store.
