EA FC 25: Changes to Pep Guardiola’s Barcelona Formation and More

For EA SPORTS FC 25, a few underused formations from EA SPORTS FC 24 will be removed, including the iconic False 9 formation favored by Pep Guardiola.

Despite EA SPORTS moving on from the FIFA name, many longtime players were concerned about what would happen next. However, there were no significant changes as Ultimate Team, Career Mode, Pro Clubs, and all the other popular modes remained.

Along the way, there have been changes to the gameplay, but EA SPORTS FC has not completely overhauled the game. The developers will be releasing a new installment in their non-FIFA series titled EA SPORTS FC 25.

In the upcoming game, a number of formations will be eliminated. Among those is Pep Guardiola’s renowned 4-3-3 False 9 formation, which played a crucial role in Barcelona’s dominance in both La Liga and the Champions League.

The 4-3-3 (5) option is available in-game and will be accompanied by several other formations, such as the once-popular 4-4-1-1 and 5-4-1 Diamond, which will not make the final cut.

All Removed Formations in EA Sports FC 25

  • 4-4-1-1
  • 4-3-3 (5)
  • 5-2-2-1
  • 5-1-2-1-1
  • 3-5-1-1
  • 3-4-3 Diamond
  • 5-4-1 Diamond

Several of the recent removals have upset fans, with one person questioning the decision to remove the highly effective 4-4-1-1 formation and another adding that it was a “huge L.”

One player expressed their frustration, stating that while the False 9 and 4411 formations were removed, the 4321 formation still remains. They sarcastically added that they are excited to face the same boring formation for the third consecutive year, despite being told it would be removed.

EA SPORTS FC 25 is also bringing significant updates to Ultimate Team and Career Mode, along with the introduction of a new feature called FC IQ. Therefore, there are definitely new elements for us to familiarize ourselves with.
