A new glitch has been identified in EA FC 25 that enables players to block and close down the ball during free kicks, corners, goal kicks, and even kick-offs, despite this being normally impossible.
While the developers have been pushing out updates to address some of the initial bugs in FC 25, including lagging menus, several issues persist. The most recent game-breaking glitch allows players to intercept the ball in scenarios that are typically protected.
During set pieces, there exists an invisible barrier that prevents the opposing team from encroaching too closely and violating the rules. For corners and free kicks, this barrier is set at 10 yards away, and for goal kicks, it exists at the box’s edge.
However, players have now uncovered a method to bypass this barrier. By holding the R1/RB button on your controller just before your controlled player would typically be halted by the invisible wall, they’ll be able to move into the zone they normally wouldn’t be allowed to enter.
This exploit was revealed by Twitch streamer ‘Makatore,’ and I’ve successfully utilized it in-game to block set pieces and to pressure the goalkeeper during goal kicks. It works in both online and offline matches, as I’ve executed it in a Kick-Off game and in Division Rivals.

Once you are holding R1/RB and have crossed the threshold, you will be unable to change your player’s direction, introducing an element of skill necessary to execute a successful block. Additionally, if you release the button, your player will be immediately pushed back the required distance.
Notably, if you manage to intercept the ball or make a tackle, the referee does not call a foul as they typically would in real life. Since players are not meant to get that close in the first place, it seems there is no in-game mechanism to penalize those who do.
If you want to make the most out of this glitch, be sure to utilize your fastest player. If they can successfully block and retain the ball from a free kick or corner, they will be ideally positioned to initiate a counterattack.
Numerous players have already reported disruptions in Division Rivals matches due to this glitch, and it may become an even larger concern in high-stakes FUT Champs games. The developers have yet to address the issue, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see a fix rolled out in the near future.
