EA FC 25’s Top New Mode Affected by “Selfish” Player Behavior

EA FC 25’s new Rush mode has been highly praised by fans, but the experience is often marred by players who refuse to pass the ball.

Rush is the innovative 5v5 mode that has replaced Volta in this year’s installment and is now seamlessly integrated across all gameplay modes. In Pro Clubs, it provides an excellent opportunity to develop your player and earn exciting rewards, while in Ultimate Team, players can tackle unique challenges to accumulate additional rewards.

In our EA FC 25 review, we highlighted this mode as one of the most enjoyable additions to the game in recent years, particularly if you have a full squad of friends to play with. However, joining a Rush game with random teammates can lead to a significantly more frustrating experience.

Many of my matches without friends have been spoiled by at least one player who stubbornly refuses to pass the ball, regardless of how much space or favorable positioning their teammates are in.

Instead, they often take the ball from the goalkeeper and attempt to solo through every defender, trying to score on their own. This not only makes it easier for a well-coordinated team to defeat you but also frustrates other members of the squad, leading them to mimic the selfish behavior.

I am not alone in this sentiment; social media has been flooded with complaints regarding this issue since the launch of EA FC 25.

“No one passes in Rush; everyone I play with just tries to dribble past everyone but gets tackled and loses possession. Selfish teammates,” remarked one comment on ‘Boombzy’s’ Reddit post, while another user shared, “Bro it’s so infuriating; I’m always the only one back defending.”

“So many games with people doing nothing but hogging every ball, spamming power shots from the halfway line, and not helping on defense,” voiced another player in a Reddit post. “Victories come when all four players are selfless and collaborate effectively.”

This frustration has also been echoed across X (formerly Twitter), where numerous players expressed their annoyance at the current state of Rush games.

Unlike traditional matches in EA FC 25, Rush mode does not provide any additional incentives for winning, losing, or achieving high player ratings. There are also no XP rewards for defensive plays; points are only awarded for scoring goals yourself.

It is hoped that the developers will address this concern in a future update by introducing extra rewards or implementing new challenges that encourage passing and defending.
