Easier Dark Matter Camo Grind in Black Ops 6 with Season 1 Additions

Easier Dark Matter Camo Grind in Black Ops 6 with Season 1 Additions

The pursuit of Dark Matter camo in Black Ops 6 has become significantly more manageable, thanks to essential new unlockables introduced in Season 1. Since the inception of mastery camos with the gold camos in Modern Warfare back in 2007, players have faced hundreds of challenges across modern Call of Duty titles to unlock these prestigious cosmetics.

The Dark Matter mastery camo, a staple of the series, returns in Black Ops 6 multiplayer. To achieve this coveted camo, players must first acquire the Dark Spine camo on 33 different weapons. This requires unlocking the Diamond camo for the same number of weapons, followed by securing five kills without dying on the selected weapon three times.

Initially, grinding for Dark Matter was particularly challenging, especially with the necessity of earning Dark Spine on melee weapons and launchers. However, the new weapons introduced in Season 1 have eased this grind, giving players more options for their camo pursuits.

Many players find the toughest segment of the Dark Matter challenge revolves around earning camo for melee weapons. This requires achieving a combination of double kills, triple kills, and getting three kills without dying. Additionally, launchers demand skill in bringing down both scorestreaks and enemy players to unlock their respective Diamond and Dark Spine camos.

Fortunately, the requirements for acquiring Dark Matter are less stringent; players must only achieve Dark Spine on 33 weapons without an obligation to balance across weapon categories. With the launch of Season 1, players have access to a new array of weapons: one assault rifle, an SMG, a shotgun, a sniper, a special secondary, and two melee weapons.

This expansion allows those chasing Dark Matter to skip over the grind for melee weapons and launchers. For instance, if players have unlocked Dark Spine camo on the assault rifles and SMGs, they can focus on the Krig-C and Saug 9mm available through the battle pass. Then they can tackle snipers using the new AMR Mod 4 from the Festival Frenzy Event, culminating with the Maelstrom shotgun.

Thus, the overall camo grind is now somewhat streamlined, making the process not only more accessible but also a rewarding way to gain XP. This can be particularly advantageous during double XP weekends, even though opinions on the effectiveness of the camo grind may vary among players.
