Eddie Munson, a character from Stranger Things portrayed by Joseph Quinn, will soon be featured in his own Dungeons & Dragons-themed comic that serves as a prequel.
This much-loved guitar enthusiast is getting a dedicated comic series from Dark Horse Comics, which will delve into his backstory prior to the events of Stranger Things Season 4. The comic will illuminate Eddie’s introduction to Dungeons & Dragons and the establishment of the Hellfire Club, a gathering of students focused on the game.
Titled Stranger Things and Dungeons & Dragons: The Rise of Hellfire, this limited four-issue series is set to launch in winter 2025, coinciding with the 50-year celebration of Dungeons & Dragons.
Jody Houser, who co-authored the previous Stranger Things and Dungeons & Dragons mini-series, is back for The Rise of Hellfire alongside new co-writer Eric Campbell, acclaimed for his contributions to Dungeons & Dragons Worlds & Realms.

The artistic team includes Diego Galindo, who previously illustrated the Stranger Things and Dungeons & Dragons series. Rounding out the creative ensemble are colorist Diana Sousa and letterer Nate Piekos.
According to Dark Horse’s official description, “This crossover comic showcases Eddie Munson’s journey to becoming the leader of the Hellfire Club, features flashbacks of the iconic campaign that ignited his passion for D&D, his introduction of Lucas, Dustin, and Mike to the game, and insights into the imaginative realms they ventured through together.”
Jody Houser expressed, “Upon watching Stranger Things Season 4, I realized that Eddie Munson’s tale and the Hellfire Club would make an excellent continuation of our Stranger Things and Dungeons & Dragons miniseries.
“Both Eric and I have a deep understanding of how D&D fosters friendships and narrative crafting, and it has been a joy to explore Hawkins through that lens.”
The first issue of Stranger Things and Dungeons & Dragons: The Rise of Hellfire (#1 of 4) is scheduled for release in comic shops on February 19, 2025. Pre-orders for Issue #1 can now be placed at your local comic shop for $3.99.
