In Frostpunk 2, it is essential to monitor various factors or statuses, particularly crime, which can have disastrous effects on your city. While there are several strategies to mitigate crime, here are the most effective ways to decrease crime rates in your city in Frostpunk 2.

You can monitor crime statistics via the top panel, usually located beneath the heating icon or index in the center. The rise in crime can be attributed to insufficient goods, heightened tension, and decreased loyalty/trust among the populace. Failing to meet the needs and desires of your citizens will lead to a steady increase in crime, resulting in multiple unwanted issues.

To combat crime, consider these two approaches: enhance security by adding Guard Squads or boost the production of Goods. The simpler option is to focus on Goods production. You can construct Industrial Districts and designate some of them to generate Goods instead of Prefabs. Ensure you have enough Industrial Districts producing Goods until your Goods metric in the top panel is non-negative. A slightly negative Goods metric is acceptable as long as you monitor your Goods stockpile closely.

For a reduction in crime through an increase in Guard Squads, you will need to research the Watchtowers using the Idea Tree. Once researched, you can build Watchtowers that deploy Guard Squads within your city. Keep in mind that this will also raise your maintenance requirements, so maintaining a balanced mix of Guard Squads and Industrial Districts producing Goods is crucial.

Always pay close attention to crime levels, as rising tension may lead to exiles if your citizens feel insecure. As your population increases, so does the tendency for crime, making it vital to keep an eye on these metrics as you advance in the game.
