Effective Techniques for Removing Rocks and Boulders in Satisfactory

In Satisfactory, players often encounter numerous annoying debris, such as rocks and boulders. While you can initially avoid them during base building, they can disrupt the aesthetic of your factory layout as you expand. Fortunately, it is possible to remove some of these obstacles. Here’s how to eliminate rocks and boulders in Satisfactory.

To clear rocks and boulders, you’ll need to use explosives. This means you must unlock materials like Sulphur, Steel, Coal, and other higher-tier resources, as well as some basic ingredients like Reinforced Iron Plates, Wires, Screws, and Cables.

These items are essential for crafting Nobelisks (bombs) and Nobelisk Detonators (detonators).

Head over to your workbench to find the Nobelisk Detonator (it also requires research in the MaM). The crafting requirements include:

  • 1x Object Scanner (4x Reinforced Iron Plates, 20 Wires, and 50 Screws)
  • 10x Steel Beams
  • 50x Cables

After crafting the Nobelisk Detonator, equip it in one of your equipment slots. Now, you need to create the explosives.

Nobelisks can also be crafted at your workbench, requiring the following materials:

  • 2x Black Powders
  • 2x Steel Pipes

Unlike the Nobelisk Detonator, you will want to create several Nobelisks. If you’re aiming to demolish numerous rocks and boulders, consider crafting around a hundred of them. They can also be useful in combat against wildlife, depending on your available resources.

With the Nobelisk Detonator and Nobelisks in hand, approach a boulder and throw a Nobelisk onto it. Move to a safe distance and use the Nobelisk Detonator to detonate it.

This should remove the rock or boulder along with some nearby resources. If a rock or boulder remains after detonation, it is likely part of the landscape and is indestructible.

If you encounter such landscape debris, the alternative is to construct a foundation and raise your building layout above the rocks. Relocating to a different area can also be a good strategy rather than constructing amidst these undestroyable obstacles. Fortunately, you can unlock a map and place beacons to aid navigation. As you advance and unlock more technologies, things will become easier, so don’t hesitate to explore further locations. If you have friends to join you, your progress can double.
