Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece Ending: Planned 25 Years in Advance

One Piece enthusiasts have always speculated about the type of conclusion Eiichiro Oda will craft, but what many don’t realize is that the ending is already predetermined.

As one of the most beloved Shonen manga and anime series, One Piece captivates fans with its intricate layers of mystery. A significant enigma within the series revolves around the legendary treasure that Luffy aspires to obtain.

The King of the Pirates, Gol D. Roger, ignited the Great Pirate Era with his last words, prompting countless adventurers to seek out the elusive One Piece. This treasure is said to bestow wealth, fame, and power upon its discoverer. Yet, even over two decades after Roger’s demise, no one has successfully reached the final island, Laughtale, where he supposedly hid his treasure.

Though the narrative offers no clues regarding the treasure or the ultimate ending, One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda revealed that he had already envisioned the climax 25 years ago. His statements further reassure fans that the series will conclude on a high note.

In 1999, Oda stated, “I’ve already decided the ending and drawn the last panel. I’ll focus on both the crew and the outside world.”

Moreover, he added in 2019, “The One Piece treasure is not about the Straw Hats’ friendship or the journey. I dislike narratives that revolve around that. Similar to the Wizard of Oz, where the journey itself was the treasure, Luffy will experience a grand adventure, but he will ultimately uncover a genuine treasure.”

The One Piece manga has evolved significantly since its inception in 1997. It is currently in the second arc of its Final Saga, known as the Elbaf Arc, indicating that the series will conclude within the next few years. Elbaf is the Kingdom of Giants, where the Straw Hats are set to embark on a new adventure, potentially bringing them closer to the coveted treasure.

One fan expressed, “One Piece is gearing up for an epic finale! Oda has a solid ending in mind, likely involving a tangible treasure that unites the world, bridging the gaps between the Red Line and Grand Line. I can’t wait to see how it all comes together.”

“It’s essential to reiterate to those who constantly hope for a disappointing ending so they can poke fun at One Piece and its fandom! A man’s dream has no end,” remarked another fan.

With the Egghead arc now concluded, make sure to explore what awaits in the Elbaf Arc.
