In response to significant server disruptions affecting players during the Elden Ring Nightreign network test, developers at FromSoftware have taken action. The test, which commenced on February 14, grants only a selected group of players access via special keys after the game’s announcement at the 2024 Game Awards, where it was introduced as a standalone co-op title.
This network test is scheduled to run in limited three-hour sessions each day from February 14 through February 17. However, with such short windows, any server issues hindering access can understandably create frustration for eager participants.
Challenges with Server Access: “Failed to log in to the game server”
For many hopeful players, the excitement of participating in the test is dampened by a frustrating “failed to login to servers” error. Some players have reported initially gaining access only to be abruptly disconnected moments later.
Addressing these concerns, FromSoftware confirmed the server issues via X/Twitter and announced their plan to rectify the situation by restarting the server. In their statement, they advised players to log out temporarily without facing any penalties for doing so.
We are currently restarting the ELDEN RING NIGHTREIGN game server. We will provide an update once the restart is complete. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused to our players.

“We are currently restarting the ELDEN RING NIGHTREIGN game server. We will provide an update once the restart is complete. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused to our players.”
The importance of stable servers cannot be overstated, especially given that the multiplayer experience requires teams of three players. Following this, the official Elden Ring account on X provided additional clarity.
