Elden Ring Nightreign, the much-anticipated multiplayer spin-off of the acclaimed Elden Ring franchise, is set to host a network test in February 2025. Although an official release date has yet to be announced, the test will offer a selection of players the chance to engage with the game ahead of its full launch, expected later that year.
During this network test, participants will encounter at least eight formidable bosses, showcasing the thrilling challenges that lie ahead in the complete adventure. Notably, some members of the press have already had the opportunity to play early sessions of Nightreign, hinting at which bosses might appear during the test.
These bosses are intriguing, consisting of a combination of familiar foes from the original Elden Ring, a notable adversary from the Dark Souls series, and an entirely new creature exclusive to Nightreign. This mix promises to create an engaging experience for beta testers.
Margit returns to challenge players once more.
Old Faces, New Threats
As reported by IGN, among the featured bosses are the formidable Demi-Human Queen and Demi-Human Swordmaster, appearing as a singular threatening encounter. Additionally, the Draconian Tree Sentinel—a powerful foe previously seen guarding Leyndell, Royal Capital in Elden Ring—will also present a significant challenge.
Among the returning figures is the Centipede Demon from the original Dark Souls, marking a nostalgic return for fans of the series. While it may be the only boss reprised from Dark Souls for the beta, other iconic adversaries from Dark Souls II and III are expected to feature in the full release.
Besides familiar faces, IGN also mentioned a new boss characterized as a “towering, twisting swarm of disgusting limbs prone to detaching body parts,” indicating that the horror elements of the Elden Ring universe remain intact and creatively expanded.
Another exciting possibility is the appearance of Margit, the Fell Omen—the initial major boss from Elden Ring—who reportedly makes his presence felt during early play sessions. Whether Margit will count among the eight major bosses or serve as an additional challenge remains uncertain. However, the potential for nine bosses adds intrigue to the network test.
So far, five bosses have been confirmed, assuming the Demi-Human characters are considered a single entity. This leaves room for three or four additional bosses, and anticipation is building around which ones will ultimately be included in the beta. Fans are eager to discover if legendary Dark Souls characters, like The Nameless King, will make an appearance or if the selection will lean more heavily on established Elden Ring adversaries.
