A brief mention on the Steam page for Elden Ring: Nightreign alluded to exciting plans for future content post-launch, signaling the inclusion of new classes and formidable bosses.
The announcement of Elden Ring: Nightreign took the FromSoftware community by surprise during The Game Awards 2024. Following the overwhelming success of the original game’s Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, expectations were low for any further additions to the Elden Ring universe, making this reveal particularly unexpected.
Although it’s premature to anticipate a full-fledged sequel to Elden Ring, this upcoming standalone title promises to innovate the traditional FromSoftware gameplay formula by integrating multiplayer modes alongside elements borrowed from roguelikes and battle royale genres. With an imminent pre-release network test on the horizon, the developers appear committed to supporting this title for an extended period.
Initial reports from PC Gamer highlighted a now-deleted segment on the Steam description that confirmed future updates. This segment mentioned “Additional DLC—Additional playable characters and bosses, ”before it was promptly taken down.

Elden Ring: Nightreign is set to launch with a variety of brand new bosses for players to conquer.
What to Expect from Elden Ring: Nightreign’s DLC
At its launch, Elden Ring: Nightreign will feature eight distinct playable classes, although details are currently available for only four: the Wylder, Guardian, Recluse, and Duchess. Each class boasts unique playstyles, abilities, and ultimate skills tailored to fit typical RPG roles such as tanks, spellcasters, and damage dealers.
Given the well-known build diversity that the Elden Ring franchise is celebrated for, the addition of new classes seems like a logical next step, tapping into the extensive wealth of creativity inherent in FromSoftware’s design philosophy.
The game will also showcase an array of bosses. The original Elden Ring featured over 100 adversaries, and promotional materials for Nightreign have already introduced several exciting new bosses that will be exclusive to this title.
Whether the post-launch bosses referenced in the earlier Steam description will include fresh adversaries or revisit old foes from the Dark Souls series remains uncertain. Nonetheless, it’s reassuring to see FromSoftware’s confidence in Elden Ring: Nightreign, as indicated by their plans for a steady stream of downloadable content.
