Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC Steam Reviews Drop to Mixed

Saying that Shadow of the Erdtree is not an easy game would be an understatement. In addition to its difficult bosses, Elden Ring players have also encountered several other problems. These issues have resulted in a “Mixed”rating on Steam, with many critics citing poor performance as a major concern.

The variable frame rate can have dire consequences for PC players; as a result, numerous negative reviews from players have poured into Shadow of the Erdtree’s Steam store page, resulting in a decrease in the game’s review score.

Elden Ring Shadow of Erdtree has received a “Mixed” review score on Steam.

“It becomes tiresome to constantly die in just two hits from every enemy I encounter. This frustration extends to regular enemies as well, as I recently experienced when a knight took away 80% of my health with a single blow.”

It is natural for fans to express complaints about the difficulty of Elden Ring in a new area filled with unfamiliar enemies. However, some fans believe that certain bosses may need to be adjusted in order to be more manageable.

“In my opinion, many main bosses require a balance adjustment. They can be overwhelming, deal excessive damage, and rarely give players a chance to rest. While it is possible to defeat them, it often requires altering one’s play-style to the point of feeling unsatisfying.”

Despite a technical issue affecting the game, players have been struggling with maintaining a consistent frame rate. In fact, a review from the Steam store highlighted their poor experience with the PC version of Shadow of the Erdtree due to performance issues.

“Some areas are simply unbearable, while others experience random fps drops. Playing against One Greater Enemy feels more like watching a slideshow. So far, the only enjoyable aspect has been the Gaol. I would advise against purchasing until these issues are resolved.”

Further comments from a Reddit thread discussing the Steam review status consistently brought up a performance issue.

“There is a need to improve performance. While I am not experiencing as severe issues as others, I am noticing significant frame drops that were not present in the original Elden Ring game.”

“My main concern is with the performance in specific aspects. Although it can be difficult at times, that is the intention; despite being constantly targeted, it is still an enjoyable experience.”

Fortunately, a different player joins in and offers a potential resolution to the performance problems on the computer.

For individuals experiencing severe performance problems like myself, I recommend verifying your settings and ensuring that the ray-tracing quality is set to ‘off.’ Despite having a powerful PC, I encountered significant lag until I adjusted this setting.

Players can now access Shadow of the Erdtree on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. We extend our best wishes to all for overcoming difficult bosses and discovering hidden items to successfully finish their journey.
