The addition of The Shadow of Erdtree DLC brings new items and weapons into the game, such as the Dragon-Hunter’s Great Katana. Despite its unconventional appearance, this sturdy curved sword is highly favored by players.
Acquiring it, however, is no simple task. In order to obtain the Katana, one must journey deep into the Realm of the Shadows, vanquish its original owner, and claim it as a reward.
1. How to obtain the Dragon-Hunter’s Great Katana in Elden Ring?
To obtain the Dragon-Hunter’s Great Katana, one must defeat the Ancient Dragon-Man in the Dragon’s Pit, which can be found in the central-southwest region of the Shadow Realm in the Elden Ring DLC.
This spot is close to the beginning of the DLC campaign and obtaining this Katana early on in the game is effortless. It will prove to be valuable in all of your future Dragon fights.
Finding Dragon’s Pit in the Elden Ring DLC
From the initial site of grace at Gravesite Plains in the DLC campaign, head north until you reach Ellac Greatbridge.
Upon crossing the bridge, you will come to the Castle Front site of grace. From there, simply follow the designated path to the southeast and you will soon arrive at the Pillar Path Waypoint site of grace.
In the southwest direction at this location, you will come across multiple damaged Dragon statues. Follow this path and it will eventually lead you to the entrance of the Dragon’s Pit dungeon.
3. Navigating the Dragon’s Pit Dungeon in Elden Ring
Navigate through the cave and follow the left pathway. Descend and continue along the path that leads north. Once you reach the end of the tunnel, exit.
Follow the left edge and continue towards another tunnel entrance to the east.
This path will lead you to a vast cavernous space. Follow the tunnel located on the southern side and continue walking until you come across a wide gap. At this point, you will need to take a leap of faith and jump down.
Despite what you may believe, the game will not end in a death screen. Instead, you will free-fall for a period of time before safely landing on solid ground. It is at this point that you will encounter the ‘Ancient Dragon-Man’ and must defeat him in order to obtain the Dragon-Hunter’s Great Katana.
While this sword may not be the most aesthetically pleasing weapon in the game, it is a strong choice for players who prefer Katanas and heavy weapons. It is a valuable asset for the unexpected dragon battles that frequently occur in Shadow of the Erdtree.
