ENHYPEN: Dealing with Sasaeng Fans and Flight Restrictions

According to X-Sports News, it was reported on September 5th that while returning from China on September 4th, ENHYPEN, the boy group under HYBE, had their flight information illegally obtained by sasaeng fans. These “fans”then proceeded to register with the airline without authorization and assigned seats to ENHYPEN members without their consent. Additionally, they purposely hindered any seat changes to guarantee that the members would sit in the pre-selected seats.

It seems that some extreme sasaeng fans are trying to get close to the artists on their flight or take unauthorized photos while traveling together.

Meanwhile, ENHYPEN had intended to alter their return flight to Korea following their commitments in China. However, when attempting to secure seats on the revised flight, they discovered that certain members were unable to select seats.

Upon contacting the airline (Air China), ENHYPEN’s manager was informed that their personal information had already been used to register as members with the airline. Additionally, the contact details were registered under a Chinese phone number and deliberate measures were taken to prevent seat assignments. As a result, the group had to verify their identities at the airport and personally change their seats. This unauthorized access to their flight information directly resulted in harm to the artists.

Earlier, HYBE had made it clear that they would not hesitate to take strong measures against individuals who obtain and misuse flight information through illegal means.

Despite efforts to stop them, sasaeng fans have persisted in obtaining flight information through illegal means. In one instance, they went as far as changing the in-flight meal of a member from Tomorrow X Together, resulting in a series of ongoing incidents involving the unlawful acquisition of flight information.

Despite being a rising K-pop group, ENHYPEN continues to face issues of privacy invasion as evident by the illegal trading and unauthorized use of their personal information in relation to their flight tickets. These incidents serve as a reminder of the ongoing struggle for privacy among K-pop artists.
