The mysterious butthole photo featured in the first episode of Season 4 of The Boys has finally been identified, according to creator Eric Kripke.
Despite only having three episodes thus far, The Boys Season 4 has already gifted viewers with some shocking and memorable scenes, including a Twilight-inspired montage and a nod to the infamous Human Centipede.
Despite the shocking nature of the moment, it was revealed that Victoria Neuman received a butthole photo from Billy Butcher, which was believed by many viewers to belong to actor Karl Urban. However, show creator Eric Kripke has now confirmed the true identity behind the scandalous image.
“In response to the numerous inquiries, Kripke clarified that the butthole featured in Season 4, Episode 1 of #TheBoys does not belong to Butcher or Karl. Instead, a model was hired for the specific shot, although Kripke admits he is unsure of the model’s name. He personally selected the image from a pool of approximately 20 different options, highlighting the realities of the Hollywood industry.”

Victoria’s reaction to the butthole picture was initially perceived as unexpected in the show, but it was later revealed to be a genuine response. According to the showrunner, Claudia Doumit, who plays the lead role, was shown the real photo during filming.
According to Kripke, while Claudia was filming the scene, a blue screen was used for the wide angles. This made it impossible for her to see what was on the phone, so she had to react to the blue screen. However, for the closeup shots, they used a real butt on the phone to make it more realistic and get a genuine reaction from Claudia. Whether this is a positive or negative thing, it was the method they used to capture a genuine reaction from Claudia.
Despite its crude and gross nature, Butcher’s stunt was likely no surprise to those familiar with him. However, the former leader of The Boys had good intentions in mind when he sent it to Victoria.
During the entirety of Season 4 Episode 1, Victoria continuously attempted to contact Butcher in order to establish a partnership. She required his assistance in gathering all of the documents that Hughie was using to blackmail her.
In return for his assistance, Victoria assured Butcher that she would remove Ryan from Homelander’s influence, allowing him to rescue the boy and keep his promise to his deceased wife, Becca.
Despite his current estrangement from The Boys, Butcher remained fiercely loyal to the team and risked everything to protect them by exposing his vulnerability.
