Every Deadpool & Wolverine Cameo We Know So Far, Explained

The highly anticipated Deadpool 3 is expected to fulfill the desires of fans craving new content from the MCU, as it brings together the Merc with a Mouth and Weapon X for the first time. Additionally, viewers can expect to see an array of cameos from both heroes and villains within the MCU and the Fox X-Men universe.

The upcoming meeting of Deadpool and Wolverine is set to be a thrilling moment for devoted Marvel followers. The beloved X-Men series, previously handled by 20th Century Fox before being acquired by Disney, will finally collide with the MCU. Although the presence of mutants has been hinted at for some time, it is the inclusion of these particular X-Men figures that has generated excitement among fans.

It is anticipated that the forthcoming Marvel film will take advantage of the excitement from fans by featuring numerous cameos from characters spanning over 20 years of X-Men and Marvel movies. While most of these cameos remain undisclosed, a few have been revealed through comments made by actors and the abundance of Easter eggs found in the trailers for Deadpool and Wolverine.

In anticipation of 2024’s biggest superhero film release, we have compiled a list of all the known cameos for Deadpool 3, along with some speculative predictions about potential appearances.

Flame On!

Pyro cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine

The surprise confirmation of Deadpool & Wolverine also included the return of Pyro, portrayed by Aaron Stanford in X2: X-Men United and X-Men: The Last Stand. In one trailer, Pyro is shown wearing a costume more similar to his comic book appearance, but he appears to be older and has clearly gone through some tough experiences.

After their intense battle in The Last Stand, fans were left wondering about Pyro’s fate. He was defeated by Iceman, and later confirmed to be among the casualties at the hands of the Sentinels in X-Men: Days of Future Past. However, in the new timeline of X-Men movies, it remains uncertain what ultimately happened to him.

Lady Deathstrike

Among the group surrounding Ant-Man’s corpse, X2’s femme fatale can be spotted. Although the trailer only offers a brief glimpse of her from afar, her distinctive talons are easily recognizable.

Despite being shown with adamantium in her system after a battle with Wolverine in X2: X-Men United, it remains uncertain if that is still her ultimate destiny. The events of Days of Future Past could have altered her timeline, resulting in her never being caught by Stryker.

Azazel

Azazel from X-Men: First class

Depending on the timeframe of the story, Azazel is possibly the father of Nightcrawler and is depicted as a mutant with demonic features. In the movies, he is a member of Sebastian Shaw’s Hellfire Club and battles against the newly formed X-Men in the finale of X-Men: First Class.

Despite not appearing in any subsequent films, it is confirmed that Azazel was killed in the 1960s before the events of Days of Future Past. This suggests that the Azazel seen in the first movie may be from an earlier time period or is a variant, as his death would have occurred before the timeline alteration caused by Wolverine.

Toad

In the second Deadpool trailer, a variation of Toad can be seen near the corpse of Ant-Man. This suggests that the character may be making a return. However, it is challenging to determine which version of Toad is featured in the trailer, as he has had two distinct appearances in the films.

The first and most well-known portrayal of Toad was in the 2000 film X-Men, played by Ray Park who had recently gained recognition for his role as Darth Maul. Although this version of Toad does not die, he does not make another appearance in the modern era. In the 1960s, a different iteration of Toad, played by Evan Jonigkeit, makes a brief cameo in Days of Future Past. However, this appearance is more of a cameo than a substantial role.

Callisto

Callisto is also present among the group of people gathered around Giant-Man’s dead body. She is known as the leader of The Morlocks, a group of mutant outcasts.

After the battle on Alcatraz, it was assumed that Callisto had been killed by Storm’s electrocution.

The Russian

Among the individuals surrounding Giant-Man’s lifeless body, The Russian stood out as a surprise. Fans will easily recognize his iconic striped shirt and strong presence, as he was last seen in a fierce battle against Tom Jane’s Frank Castle in the 2004 film The Punisher.

It is possible that the appearance of The Russian could support another claim that a variation of The Punisher will make an appearance in the movie. The specific version of The Punisher has not been revealed, but it should be noted that the actor portraying The Russian in this scene is not professional wrestler Kevin Nash, who played the character in the previous film.

Alioth

Is it a cameo appearance? A recurring threat? A foreshadowing of what’s to come in the film? Regardless, Alioth from the Loki TV series is briefly featured in the trailer.

Alioth, the living storm, is the protector of The Void, the place where the TVA sends all the variants it prunes. Recently, set photos have surfaced featuring Deadpool and Wolverine battling in a world filled with hidden references. Could this mean that the two have also been pruned and ended up in The Void?

X-Force

Colossus, Shatterstar, and Dopinder from Deadpool & Wolverine

During Deadpool’s birthday, we can see most of the X-Force members, including Colossus, Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Yukio, Shatterstar, Dopinder, and Peter, in the trailer before he is suddenly taken away by the TVA.

According to initial reports, the appearances of X-Force, Blind Al, and Vanessa in the film are minor cameos that connect to the team’s survival following Deadpool’s revision of the timeline in the end credits of Deadpool 2. It should be noted, however, that Cable will not be making a comeback in this installment.

The Avengers

The introduction of Deadpool into the MCU demands an impressive lineup of MCU heroes to welcome him. Luckily, Deadpool & Wolverine managed to secure the best, even if it was only through the use of archived footage.

For the scene in which Deadpool arrives at the TVA, archive footage from Avengers: Age of Ultron, Thor Ragnarok, and Captain America: The Winter Soldier is utilized. However, it has been revealed that the footage goes beyond just these films. The exclusive CinemaCon trailer, which has not yet been made available to the public, reportedly includes an edited scene from Thor: The Dark World featuring Thor standing over a wounded Deadpool.

Possible Cameo Appearances in Deadpool 3

Fans are eagerly anticipating the possibility of multiple cameos in Deadpool 3, with rumors suggesting characters such as Elektra, Professor X, and Cyclops may make an appearance.

It is expected that Deadpool & Wolverine will include many cameos that fans have not yet seen. Director Shawn Levy has stressed that the cameos were determined by the story, rather than the other way around.

Speculation has been circulating about the potential return of Elektra, played by Jennifer Garner in the infamous 2005 film. The Hollywood Reporter seemingly confirmed an Elektra cameo, but Garner herself has raised doubts about her appearance. There are also rumors that Ben Affleck may have been on set, possibly reprising his role as Daredevil, but these claims remain unverified.

It is rumored that many popular X-Men characters will be joining Wolverine in the upcoming film. Patrick Stewart has expressed his desire to make an appearance, and the presence of his wheelchair behind Cassandra Nova in one scene seems to support this. Additionally, James Marsden, who portrays Cyclops, may have accidentally confirmed his cameo in the film.

It appears that the original Sabretooth, played by former professional wrestler Tyler Mane, also makes a cameo in some form. However, while set photos show an actor in the Sabretooth costume and a model of his head, it is unclear if Mane himself was present on set.

Despite speculation from fans, it seems that Famke Janssen will not be reprising her role as Jean Grey in the upcoming Deadpool 3. Janssen has clarified that she will not be appearing in the film, which dispels the theory that the Wolverine in this film is from a timeline where he was unable to defeat Dark Phoenix. However, there is still a possibility that Janssen could make a return in future installments.

There are also ongoing rumors of additional smaller cameos. Leakers have suggested that Wesley Snipes could potentially make an appearance as Blade, the most recent one to surface.

Naturally, considering the discussions surrounding the TVA and the existence of Alioth, one may wonder if any actors from the Loki series will make an appearance in the film. Tom Hiddleston, who portrays Loki, has been evasive and refraining from directly addressing the possibility of a cameo. However, it is worth mentioning that Owen Wilson, who plays Mobius, was recently spotted in London during the filming of Deadpool & Wolverine in the same area.

Will Taylor Swift Star in Deadpool 3?

In addition, there has been a lot of speculation surrounding a potential Taylor Swift cameo in Deadpool 3, which is considered to be the most secretive and talked about rumor. There have been rumors circulating for a while now that Swift might make an appearance in the film, possibly as The Dazzler or Lady Deadpool. However, the truth behind her involvement remains a closely guarded secret, with some believing that any cameo would be a quick and comedic moment, similar to Brad Pitt’s appearance as The Vanisher.

We will soon find out about Taylor Swift and any potential cameos in Deadpool 3. The release of Deadpool & Wolverine in theaters on July 26 will reveal which characters will be making an appearance.

In the meantime, you can stay updated on Spider-Man 4 news, learn about The Fantastic Four, and keep informed about everything related to Avengers 5.
