Great news for all the VIPs out there! Despite former BIGBANG T.O.P’s disappointing announcement about the cancellation of his “dearMoon”project, fans can still look forward to new music from the talented idol in the near future.
On June 1, it was announced by Yusaku Maezawa, the Japanese billionaire and organizer of the “dearMoon”project, that the first civilian lunar flight has been cancelled.
The public was informed about the mission in 2022, which generated significant interest from K-pop enthusiasts, especially due to the inclusion of former BIGBANG member T.O.P as one of the chosen members.
The original plan was for it to be launched in November 2023.
Despite SpaceX’s giant Starship still being in development, the event was postponed. However, after six months, it was ultimately canceled.
On June 2nd, T.O.P shared on his personal Instagram his regret that the project will not be moving forward, but he also expressed his gratitude to Yusaku Maezawa for giving him the opportunity to be a part of such a wonderful project.
Despite his determination to visit the moon, he reassured his fans that he will not give up on his dream just yet. In the meantime, he will channel his passion and energy into releasing new music, hinting at an upcoming solo comeback.
T.O.P wrote:
“Over the last few years since joining ‘dearMoon’, I feel that my body and soul have forged a deep, direct connection with the moon. My imagination has expanded to places I would have never expected as I prepared for moon exploration.
As a Korean artist, this experience has had a profound impact on my life and the music I make. My body and soul connected with the moon and space has already inspired me to compose a lot of new music, some of which I look forward to sharing soon. The moon has and will continue to nourish my soul and fill me up with meaning and inspiration forever.”
He went on to say:
“My dream to travel to the moon is not over. It has become the ultimate and greatest goal of my life, an official challenge, and a core mission for my life. […] will never give up on my dreams, and I will continue to pursue new adventures that challenge me. This is for everyone who strives with love.”
In the meantime, T.O.P gained recognition as a member of the popular group BIGBANG, which was formed by YG Entertainment in 2006. They rose to fame with chart-topping hits such as “Fantastic Baby,””BANG BANG BANG,””Haru Haru,””LOSER,”and many others.
Sadly, in 2023 he parted ways with the team when his contract with the label ended, choosing to pursue a new path as both a businessman and artist.
Thankfully, T.O.P has not yet ruled out the possibility of releasing solo music in the future. He has hinted that he is currently working on new songs.
In the interim, Big Bang fans, also known as VIPs, can look forward to the male superstar’s role in season 2 of the Netflix show, “Squid Game,”set to premiere in the latter half of the year.
After appearing in “The Secret Message”on Naver TV in 2015, this will be his first return to the small screen in nine years.
