The former FIFTY FIFTY members, Saena, Sio, and Aran, have taken legal action against ATTRAKT by filing a civil lawsuit. This news prompted a range of mixed reactions from K-pop fans.
According to reports from Korean news outlets on August 27, it was stated that Saena, Sio, and Aran have initiated legal proceedings against ATTRAKT CEO, Jeon Hong Joon. The lawsuit is said to revolve around the members seeking ₩300 million KRW ($225,300.00 USD).
On August 23, the members filed a settlement lawsuit at the Seoul Central District Court, in response to ATTRAKT’s 13 billion won ($9,761,700.00 USD) lawsuit for damages against them, their parents, and The Givers CEO Ahn Sung Il.
The 31st Civil Division has been designated for both trials and they will be consolidated for proceedings. Additionally, the three idols will be represented by Dongin Law Firm in regards to any damages and settlement claims.
The trio of idols, Saena, Sio, and Aran, have signed an exclusive contract with MASSIVE E&C, a new label under IOK Company, on August 12. They are currently getting ready for their re-debut as a trio, coinciding with the re-entry of FIFTY FIFTY into the K-pop industry with its newly added members.
The trio’s actions spawned a forum on TheQoo, where K-netz shared their disappointment.
- “They sure are good at bullsh**ting.”
- “They are freaking shameless.”
- “Isn’t this the money that was required from you?”
- “They’re the ones who shattered the golden goose eggs that were handed to them (t/n: biting the hand that feeds you).”
- “Isn’t this your penalty fee?”
- “Pay your penalty fee.”
- “Where’s their shame.”
At the same time, the legal updates were met with criticism from international fans who were concerned about the trio’s second chance. They were also eager to see how Saena, Sio, and Aran’s debut would unfold, given the previous controversies.
- “And this is why I lowkey do not feel bad for them. They are making terrible financial decisions.”
- “With all the debt that they have, why the hell would they then turn around and gather up more legal fees for something that isn’t guaranteed?”
- “They should open a GoFundMe so all the boycotters can support.”
- “Sure they were manipulated, but they need to take responsibility for their actions. They are coming across as petty and unrepentant, which will not help their aspirations at all.”
- “Girls, just stop.”
- “They’re obsessed with Attrakt and want to be relevant so badly.”
- “I wanna know whose money they’re using to pay for those lawyers because keeping this up when you’re already 13 million in debt is the stupidest thing I can think of.”
- “There I am in their previous article wishing them to not get more debt and for what?”
- “They’re destroying their second chance already? Oh no.”
- “They’re so steeped in controversy I wonder how their debut will go.”
