Ex-McDonald’s Chef Addresses Rumors About Nugget Size

In response to some customers’ suspicion that McDonald’s has made their nuggets smaller, an ex-chef from the chain has spoken out.

Mike Haracz’s role at McDonald’s was as a corporate chef, where he frequently shares TikTok updates about menu changes.

In July, he spoke about the popular McOcean burger that has been making its rounds, leading many customers to believe that the burgers now contain miniature octopuses.

The brand’s $5 meal deal has recently been the topic of speculation, particularly regarding the size and texture of the included nuggets. A concerned customer had contacted him, expressing disappointment with the smaller and spongier nuggets.

Mike stated that although he lacked “actual data”from McDonalds, there appeared to be a significant increase in the number of complaints about nuggets containing shells.

Despite being smaller, this does not necessarily mean that the food is of lower quality. Some individuals in the comments section shared their thoughts on the change, stating: “I had the $5 meal yesterday and my fries were thinner and crispier. They were actually pretty good.”

“Another person commented that the ones from the USA have a slightly different taste compared to the Canadian ones.”

“According to one individual, the McDonald’s in my area has been offering this $5 meal for over a year, so it is not a new addition.”

In June, McDonald’s reintroduced its $5 meal box, which features:

  • Your choice of a McDouble® or McChicken® sandwich
  • Small fries
  • 4-piece Chicken McNuggets®
  • Small soft drink

“Our DNA has always been rooted in value. Our utmost dedication is to uphold this tradition by providing delectable and reasonably-priced choices for our customers to savor whether they visit our physical locations, use our drive-thru service, or order through our mobile app,”stated Joe Erlinger, President of McDonald’s USA.

Other fast food chains, such as Pizza Hut, Burger King, Wendy’s, and Popeyes, have also introduced their own meal deals this year, not just McDonald’s.
