Ex-Sentinels star SicK reemerged in Valorant months after mental health issues

The ex-Sentinels player, Hunter ‘SicK’ Mims, has recently been seen in a Valorant lobby, several months after stepping away from the game due to mental health concerns.

Since the beginning of 2023, SicK has been struggling with mental health problems, exhibiting unpredictable actions on social media and his Twitch channel. As a result, he has been taken into custody on two separate occasions – once on March 4, 2023, and again on May 9, 2024.

In June 2023, SicK issued an apology for his behavior and took steps to rectify the situation by deleting his tweets and offensive comments. He also sought guidance and support from his Sentinels teammates.

In January 2024, SicK was quickly transported to the hospital after sharing a goodbye post on X (formerly known as Twitter). Following this, he expressed regret for his behavior and announced his intention to step away from social media for a while.

After approximately five months since his previous update, SicK has resurfaced in the game of Valorant, as he was seen playing in the North American Radiant lobby once more.

During a Demon1 stream where he was playing with Boostio, the duo noticed that their teammate, a Viper, had a VCT Masters gun buddy while they were queueing up.

The pair found themselves perplexed as only a few players possess the Viper, and they were unable to identify it. This is because obtaining the Viper requires winning a Masters tournament, a feat that only a limited number of players have accomplished to date.

SicK, who was immediately recognized by both Demon1 and Boostio, was eventually questioned by them.

Eventually, the ex-Valorant professional did confirm his identity, with Boostio playfully mentioning that he initially thought he was hallucinating when he saw the unfamiliar player with the gun buddy.

Neither Demon1 nor Boostio questioned SicK any further upon his return to Valorant after his departure from the game. The entire team continued to play as usual. However, Demon1’s chat was filled with viewers showing their support for him.

Despite speculation, SicK has not yet made a public announcement regarding his potential return to the professional gaming scene or plans to resume streaming.
