Former APRIL member Lee Naeun recently ignited controversy by appearing on Kwak Tube‘s YouTube channel. Kwak Tube is a well-known South Korean YouTuber boasting over 2 million subscribers, who discussed his initial response to Naeun’s past bullying allegations. During their conversation, Kwak revealed that he had blocked Naeun when the allegations first emerged, as he too had endured bullying during his school years. However, after reading an article that denied the claims, Kwak decided to unblock her and even offered an apology.
The video quickly went viral, stirring a heated debate among netizens. Many criticized Kwak for “forgiving” Naeun, asserting that only the victim, former APRIL member Lee Hyunjoo, had the authority to do so. This situation has reignited debates surrounding the group’s bullying scandal, as Hyunjoo accused her former bandmates of mistreatment, which significantly impacted APRIL’s burgeoning career.
In the aftermath of the controversy, Lee Hyunjoo’s Instagram was bombarded with a mix of negative and supportive feedback. Even though she was not directly involved in the video, she faced severe criticism from APRIL fans who held her accountable for the group’s decline. Some comments were harsh, personally attacking her and accusing her of adopting a victim mentality.
