Excessive Cyberbullying: Critic Faces a Barrage of Hate Comments After Mentioning BTS’s Suga

On August 15th, Jung Min-jae reposted a fan’s message about Suga on his social media account. The fan expressed their disappointment, stating that Suga was being wrongly accused of lying when he was actually telling the truth. The fan also called out the Korean media for spreading fake news and shaming Suga’s reputation.

In The Korea Times, Jung Min-jae expressed that it would be challenging for Suga to regain the public’s trust and carry out his activities without leaving the group. As a result, there have been calls for an apology, but isn’t it Suga who should be the one apologizing? Let’s all get a grip.

Following the initial post, Jung Min-jae also shared screenshots of comments left on his wife’s social media, exposing the fact that his family was also receiving targeted attacks. He expressed concern, stating, “The situation has escalated to the point where they are now leaving comments on my wife’s social media. It’s becoming unsettling.”Additionally, he mentioned that certain fans had even tried to change his social media password. Jung Min-jae continued, “Do they truly believe that their actions will make Suga’s drunk driving incident disappear?”

In a previous interview with The Korea Times, Jung Min-jae affirmed that Suga will most likely remain a member of the group, but regaining the trust of Korean fans will be a difficult task for him.

Despite the ongoing police investigation, Suga’s involvement in drunk driving and repeated lies have greatly disappointed Korean fans. The negative public sentiment in Korea is likely to persist as long as Suga remains active, even after all the members complete their military service.

On August 7th, BTS’s Suga was charged by the Seoul Yongsan Police Station for breaking the Road Traffic Act (drunk driving). He was discovered alone in Yongsan-gu the day before, after falling off an electric scooter while under the influence.

After the incident, both Suga and his agency BigHit Music released official statements. However, their statements were met with criticism for downplaying the severity of the situation by referring to the vehicle involved as an “electric kickboard”instead of an “electric scooter”and stating that there were “no human or property damages”. This sparked accusations of attempting to conceal the incident.
