The Incheon International Airport Police declared on August 16th that they had charged A, the 40-year-old leader of the private security firm, and three others for violating the Security Services Industry Act. No detention was made for A.
The remaining three individuals consisted of two security guards employed by the company and one freelance bodyguard.
A and A’s team have been accused of breaching the Security Services Industry Act when they were responsible for ensuring the security of Byun Woo-seok at Incheon Airport on July 12th. Allegedly, they controlled the gates, directed flashlights at passengers near the lounge, and inspected boarding passes while a large group of fans had gathered.
As a result of this incident, Byun Woo-seok’s agency Varo Entertainment released an official statement, expressing their apologies and stating that they will take necessary measures to prevent any similar inconveniences for passengers during security procedures at Incheon Airport. Additionally, it was reported that the incident was brought to the attention of the National Human Rights Commission of Korea.
The police are currently deliberating on whether to pursue additional charges of coercion or obstruction of business against the four individuals involved following a more detailed investigation.
