Former Love Island UK finalist is returning to our screens for Love Island USA Season 6 to participate in a brand-new series.
It is a well-known fact among diehard Love Island fans that the UK series is the only one of its spinoffs to have Aftersun.
In a manner similar to Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live!, the after-show showcases the host as she revisits notable moments from the villa with previous islanders who can provide their unique perspectives on the on-screen events.
However, the UK show is no longer the sole series under the Love Island umbrella that includes an after show.
On June 6, it was revealed that Love Island USA will be introducing its inaugural Aftersun segment for Season 6. Taking on the hosting duties is none other than Maura Higgins, a former UK islander and social ambassador for the USA.
It is uncertain if someone will be appointed as the new ambassador for the series or if she will continue to hold both positions. Nevertheless, fans are ecstatic and immediately turned to Reddit on the same day to express their excitement.
One supporter commented, “YESSS!! She is a legend in Long Island and truly deserves this recognition.”
Another viewer added, “She would have made a great host! However, I’m happy that she has returned.”
Fans have also started a lengthy list of demands for what they anticipate to see in the segment.
A Redditor suggested that the new After Sun show should feel different from the Unseen Bits format, with Maura hosting and providing commentary in between segments and conducting a post-dumping interview. The suggestion also included having a small set and inviting former islanders and “celebrities”as guests.
The premiere of Aftersun’s first episode for Season 6 is scheduled for June 15 and will be accessible for streaming on Peacock. We will soon find out if Maura and the segment will meet the expectations of the viewers.
