How to Unlock Exclusive Skin Effects in Zenless Zone Zero
In Zenless Zone Zero, equipping their signature W-Engine allows players to unlock exclusive skin effects. These effects are not permanent and can be activated by performing an EX Special Attack, Assist, Chain Attack, or Ultimate.
The exclusive skin effect only makes the character look cool and doesn’t increase their damage stats.
Note
To activate a unique skin:
Open the Equipment menu in the character’s menu.
If you have previously installed the character’s exclusive W-Engine at least once, you will see a switch below.
3. Activate the switch by pressing it. The skin will be enabled when the switch is in the UP position and disabled when it is in the DOWN position.
After unlocking a character’s exclusive skin, you can still use it even if you equip a non-signature W-Engine. However, before doing so, you must have equipped the character’s signature W-Engine at least once.
When Ellen uses her EX-Skill, some part of her hair becomes red and glows. This effect wears off when her Skill animation is over.

The W-Engines’ signature feature is their passive ability, which can be distinguished by comparing it to the character’s own abilities. These engines are specifically designed to benefit the character they are paired with the most, both in terms of stats and passive effects.
