Through a statement released by his agency Mystic Story, Yang Jae-woong expressed his deep sorrow and offered his sincerest apologies to the bereaved family members for the unfortunate incident that took place during the hospitalization at WJin Hospital on July 29th. He also extended his sympathies to all the medical staff involved in the incident.
The speaker, who is the director of WJin Hospital, expressed his grave concern about the incident that took place at the hospital. He assured that the hospital will fully cooperate with external organizations in the ongoing investigation. The cooperation includes providing CCTV footage of the incident and the patient’s medical chart to accurately depict the situation at that time.
According to reports from the family of B, a woman in her 30s who was seeking treatment at a mental hospital in Bucheon, Gyeonggi-do, SBS stated that she passed away in May. CCTV footage from the hospital was released, revealing B’s actions while hospitalized in a private room. She can be seen knocking on the door multiple times, requesting to be let out and expressing discomfort in her abdomen. Despite this, a nurse and doctor administered medication and physically restrained her on the bed. After an hour, they released her when there was no response.
Despite the medical staff’s efforts to perform CPR and administer massage when B lost consciousness, the patient ultimately succumbed to her illness. B had been admitted to the hospital 17 days prior to her death for treatment of her addiction to diet drugs containing narcotics. It is believed that the cause of her death was intestinal pseudo-obstruction.
The bereaved family was outraged by the hospital’s negligence and decided to take legal action. They alleged that the hospital had administered B excessive amounts of sleeping pills and stabilizers, which ultimately led to a fatal dose of stabilizers being discovered in her blood during the autopsy conducted by the National Forensic Service. Additionally, the family lodged a complaint with the National Human Rights Commission and the police have initiated an investigation, booking the hospital director and staff members.
Earlier, Yang Jae-woong, who is 10 years older than actress and EXID member Hani, openly confirmed their relationship and the couple has announced plans to get married in September.
