Despite the passage of time, EXID member Hani’s silence continues to persist. This is due to a recent incident involving the death of a patient at the mental health hospital run by her fiancé, Dr. Yang Jae-woong. Hani is not required to publicly address the situation or explain her position, but her prolonged silence is starting to have an impact on her peers in the entertainment industry.
An incident took place at a hospital on the 26th of the previous month, where a renowned psychiatrist, known as A, serves as the director. The occurrence was brought to attention approximately two months later. A woman in her thirties, identified as B, passed away while receiving treatment for her addiction to diet pills at the hospital.
Afterwards, it was disclosed that A was actually Dr. Yang Jae-woong. Through his agency, Yang Jae-woong conveyed his sincere remorse, stating, “Myself and the entire medical team are deeply pained by the unfortunate event that took place during the admission procedure. I extend my sincerest apologies to the grieving family who have lost their beloved one.”This apology was issued almost two months following the patient’s passing.
Despite his promise of full cooperation, which included providing medical charts and CCTV footage, the public was outraged when his apology came two months later and was followed by the announcement of Hani and Yang Jae-woong’s engagement in September.
Despite their long-term relationship and engagement, Hani is also facing scrutiny as to whether she was aware of the incident. Her social media accounts have been flooded with critical comments regarding both the wedding and Yang Jae-woong.
Despite the controversy involving her fiancé, Hani has encountered obstacles. She was forced to pull out of an upcoming appearance on the JTBC4 variety show ‘Review Cut’. Originally scheduled to air on the 12th, Hani ultimately decided to remove herself from the show, possibly due to the repercussions of the Yang Jae-woong scandal. The change in her involvement has not only affected her, but also the other cast members of the show, resulting in the need to find a replacement host and push back the premiere date to September 2.
Hani was actively communicating through social media up until a month ago. However, she has since stopped all communication, leading to a negative shift in public opinion. Unfortunately, this has prevented her from celebrating her 12th debut anniversary and has resulted in criticism. According to reports, she is also contemplating postponing her wedding, which was originally planned for September.
Additionally, Yang Jae-woong will be subjected to an inquiry by the National Human Rights Commission.
