On May 7, EXO D.O. made his solo comeback with a new album, which included the title track “Mars.”The song was released simultaneously on multiple music platforms, including YouTube.

“BLOSSOM”encompasses D.O.’s journey and development as a solo artist, featuring five additional tracks: “Simple Joys,””Popcorn,””Good Night,””My Dear,”and “About Time.”

To celebrate his return as a performer, D.O., the founder of his own label, Company SooSoo, arranged a pop-up café event at a major department store in Yeouido, running from May 8 to the 14th.

EXO-Ls attending the event will have the opportunity to socialize with other fans while indulging in a variety of coffee, beverages, and desserts available at the café. Additionally, the event will offer items for sale such as postcard sets, mini poster sets, acrylic keyrings, and hand-painted keyrings.

Furthermore, by purchasing products worth 50,000 KRW ($37), fans will have the opportunity to receive 1 out of 2 unreleased photocards.

Despite receiving rave reviews for its affordable prices compared to other idol merchandise, there was a slight controversy among fans when they saw the prices of the drinks served at the pop-up event in Yeouido.

EXO D.O.’s café event featured three unique drinks, each named after a song from his album. These signature drinks included an Americano called “Good Night,”an iced tea named “Mars,”and a chocolate latte known as “Simple Joys.”

The price of 7,000 won per drink ($5) has sparked discontent, particularly among a small group of netizens.

The idol received criticism from Netters for its high-priced menu, which was deemed even more costly than offerings from well-known café chains.

Evident were comments expressing discomfort, such as:

  • “These days, a cup of Americano costs 7,000 won when there are more cost-effective coffees.”
  • “I guess it wasn’t enough to sell the album.”
  • “Aren’t you too greedy for money?”
  • “What a turnoff, ew. He’s full of greed. The fact that he’s not even giving it away but selling it for more expensive than other cafés.”

EXO-Ls come to the defense of EXO D.O. against accusations of being ‘greedy’

Upon witnessing the backlash D.O. faced for sharing the prices of beverages at his pop-up café event, fans promptly came to the idol’s defense and pointed out that attendees should take into account the challenges faced by the event organizers.

Organizing a café event may appear effortless to some, but in reality, it requires several months of preparation. The idol must handle expenses such as staff wages, space rental, and product preparation. Additionally, they must prioritize quality and safety control measures before proceeding with the event.

Instead of labeling D.O as “greedy,”fans are urging others to recognize the good intention behind the idol’s actions, which is to provide a secure environment for his fans to gather and celebrate his comeback.
