To celebrate the release of his 3rd mini album, “1 to 3,”EXO’s Suho sat down with K-media for an interview where he shared his thoughts on collaborating with Red Velvet’s Wendy.
On May 31st at 6 p.m. KST, EXO’s Suho made his long-awaited comeback after a year and a half with a new mini album featuring two title tracks, “1 to 3″and “Cheese.”
Before its debut, the male soloist organized a mini-photoshoot for several K-media channels, during which they also participated in a full Q&A session.
During the press conference, the majority of the inquiries focused on his approach and methods during the album production. However, the press also inquired about Red Velvet Wendy, who was highlighted in the pre-released single, “Cheese,”on May 20th.
The question was as follows:
“Is there a reason why you pre-released another double title song, ‘Cheese’? Red Velvet’s Wendy participated in the featuring. How was it working together?”
Suho responded by expressing his love for the song while keeping EXO-Ls in mind, stating:
“First of all, I love the song ‘Cheese’ so much that I wanted to enjoy it with my fans at my solo concert. Also, I thought I would make a significant image change through this album and approach my fans in a more fun and comfortable way, so I thought I would pre-release the light and bouncy song ‘Cheese’.”
When it came to selecting Wendy as his singing partner, Suho expressed his fondness for his junior, further stating:
“Wendy is one of my juniors that I really care about, and while working on this song, I thought she would suit (to sing with) me really well. I was initially worried that Wendy might not be able to do it if she had other schedules or projects, but I was so grateful that she readily agreed to be featured just 10 minutes after asking.”
Without a doubt, they not only showcased their vocal harmony in the song but also exuded a charming chemistry in the released MV.
When questioned about the most unforgettable moment during the filming of the “Cheese”music video, Suho once again brought up Wendy and described his experience working with her.
“In the ‘Cheese’ music video, Wendy’s facial expressions were really good, giving off a similar vibe as American sitcom drama, so she made me laugh a lot throughout the filming.
In the last part of the music video, you can see a scene where we pretend to freeze (like statues) and then burst into laughter when we look at each other as we nod.
In fact, it is actually an ‘NG’ scene, but despite that, I think the MV looks more cheerful because it was included in the actual music video.”
