EXO’s Xiumin Faces Malicious Attacks from YouTuber Sojang: “I Want to R*pe Him”

The notorious YouTuber “Sojang,” whose real name is Park, ran a celebrity gossip channel that garnered around 60,000 subscribers. In May, she faced criminal charges for defaming seven public figures in South Korea between 2022 and 2024, allegedly earning nearly ₩250 million KRW (approximately $183,000 USD) from her videos. In October 2023, K-pop star Jang Wonyoung and her management, Starship Entertainment, initiated a lawsuit against Sojang for disseminating false information about her. Their ongoing defamation lawsuit concluded in May this year.

Previously, other K-pop idols like IVE’s Jang Wonyoung, BTS’s V and Jungkook, as well as Kang Daniel, also took legal action against Park. Many may not realize that Park’s problematic online conduct traces back to the 2010s, if not earlier.

Park was alleged to have been sued by EXO’s Xiumin while using the online nickname Gasahara on DC Inside Gallery, a popular Korean forum established in 1999. Although the exact details of the lawsuit remain largely undisclosed, Gasahara made a post on DC Inside titled “My Record: Sued By EXO’s Xiumin,” which implies that she was ultimately found not guilty.

In a comment below a photo of a legal document and a receipt bearing “GASAHARA,” she stated: “Nope. Not guilty. I just said I wanted to rape him.”

Jang Wonyoung’s legal victory has established a precedent that may empower other K-pop idols to pursue legal action against Park in the future. Fans of K-pop worldwide have expressed their congratulations to Wonyoung for her triumph.
