In episode 27 of Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War, Ichibe Hyosube unleashes a formidable ability known as Futen Taisatsuryo in his fierce battle against Yhwach. This incredible power harnesses the darkness surrounding Yhwach, eradicating him entirely from existence, including his soul, eliminating any possibility of reincarnation.
The incantation Ichibe performs is laden with dark imagery, as it invokes a mausoleum constructed from nights taken from the future of Soul Society. Despite the overwhelming potency of this ability, Yhwach’s activation of The Almighty allows him to counterattack, highlighting the high stakes and intensifying conflict between the Royal Guard and the Quincy King.
Ichibe Hyosube’s confrontation with Yhwach in Bleach TYBW
In Bleach TYBW, Yhwach makes his way to the Royal Palace with the aim of eliminating the Soul King and the Royal Guards that stand in his path. Upon reaching Ichibe, Yhwach questions whether he will allow him to pass, addressing him formally by name.
With a sly smile, Ichibe stands tall, warning Yhwach that casually using his name could be perilous. He then marks out the boundaries of their battleground on the ground. When Yhwach boasts that he can defeat Ichibe quickly, Ichibe responds by writing the kanji for “Seal,”which results in a giant hand that tosses Yhwach away.
As Yhwach ascends with his Sankt Bogen, Ichibe unleashes another attack, Senri Tsutensho, propelling Yhwach through the air. After his throat is crushed, Yhwach restores his voice by self-inflicting a wound and then fires a Heilig Pfeil to launch himself back at Ichibe.
Ichibe soon demonstrates that his brush can sever names, significantly weakening Yhwach by cutting the name associated with his arm. Yet, Yhwach rapidly regains his strength, forcing Ichibe to invoke Bakudo #62, which Yhwach successfully blocks using Blut Vene Anhaben. As Ichibe counters Yhwach’s moves, the Quincy absorbs his own wound, causing damage to his own face.
Upon releasing his Zanpakuto, Ichimonji, Yhwach’s Quincy Cross and sword become ineffective, engulfed in ink. Ichibe proclaims Yhwach will perish like an ant, employing his Bankai, Shirafude Ichimonji, to designate him as “Black Ant,”which severely diminishes Yhwach’s power. However, Yhwach activates The Almighty, puncturing Ichibe with his sword.
He explains that his ability allows him to foresee and comprehend all future events, nullifying Ichibe’s attacks. Nevertheless, Ichibe channels the darkness around Yhwach to power Futen Taisatsuryo, a technique designed to completely obliterate a soul.
Ichibe Hyosube’s Futen Taisatsuryo deployment against Yhwach in Bleach TYBW episode 27
Ichibe swings Ichimonji, drawing in the surrounding darkness and pouring it into a sake cup, which he then drinks from. As he recites an incantation, he spins Ichimonji to create circles of darkness upon the ground, culminating in stabbing it into the floor to summon a mausoleum atop broken gravestones.
The incantation goes as follows:
“Oh Twilight, and everlasting darkness, come to me, come and have a drink, and once you do, your life will fade. The flowers will bloom along the road to hell. Where are the fish, let me paint them black, cut them into eight, and cook them well atop a flame of black, and then enjoy the meal. All that’s left are bones of white, make them a gravestone, and pay respect. May they never be reborn again, so that you won’t be sacrificed as food.”
This devastating technique extracts all darkness from the opponent, including their flesh, blood, and bones, thereby ensuring that their soul is completely extinguished.
Ichibe asserts that the gravestones are created by siphoning a hundred eons from Soul Society in the future, guaranteeing his opponent’s total annihilation with no possibility of revival. Nevertheless, Yhwach, empowered by The Almighty, retaliates, obliterating Ichibe’s form.

After Ichibe’s defeat, Yhwach strides past his remains, noting that he had predicted Ichibe’s downfall well in advance of the fight and destroys the barrier leading to the main palace. With the Royal Guard vanquished, Yhwach proclaims the Soul King to be his next target.
Shortly afterward, Ichigo Kurosaki and his allies arrive at the palace within a decoy Tenchuren, discovering Ichibe’s remains. As Orihime attempts to heal him, Ichibe mentally urges Ichigo to call his name. Upon doing so, Ichibe is resurrected, revealing he harnessed some of Ichigo’s power to reconstruct his body. He implores Ichigo and the others to prevent Yhwach from exterminating the Soul King.
