Since its launch in 2017, Fortnite has evolved significantly, introducing a plethora of new features, collaborations, and live events. One of the latest additions is Proximity Chat, currently accessible on select maps.
Epic Games has recently announced an upcoming feature titled Sleep Mode, set to debut with the 31.30 update.
What is Sleep Mode in Fortnite?
Sleep Mode automatically activates after 15 minutes of player inactivity, although players can customize this timer in the settings according to personal preference.
When Sleep Mode is engaged, Voice Chat is muted, and matchmaking is halted. This ensures that you won’t inadvertently join a match when you step away from your gaming setup.
How to Configure Sleep Mode Settings
Starting in v31.30, Fortnite will go into Sleep Mode after a player is inactive for 15 minutes, letting your squad know you stepped away 😴 When in Sleep Mode, Voice Chat is paused & matchmaking is canceled. As of now, Sleep Mode hasn’t been implemented in Fortnite. However, Epic has shared clear instructions on how to adjust the timer settings:
- Start by launching settings.
- Navigate to the Game tab.
- Modify the timer option found under Sleep Mode & Energy Saving.
Can Sleep Mode Be Turned Off?
A common question among players is whether Sleep Mode can be fully disabled, as some might wish to leave the game for an extended period without interruption. Unfortunately, Epic has not clarified whether this feature can be toggled off.
However, the ability to adjust the timer may mean that you could simply set it to the maximum duration if you intend to queue while engaging in other activities. We will keep this guide updated once the feature goes live.
