Rumor: Daniel Radcliffe Will Not Play Deadpool or Wolverine
Daniel Radcliffe is not featured in Deadpool & Wolverine.
Despite his small stature, hairy appearance, and fit physique, fans have been envisioning the actor as a Wolverine variant that better resembles the original depiction in the comic books.
However, it turns out that this was not meant to be. Although the rumor may have been fueled by the hopes of Potter fans, Radcliffe cannot escape some responsibility as he jokingly mentioned the possibility of reprising his role during a Wired auto-complete interview in 2019.
According to producer Wendy Jacobson in a recent interview with Games Radar, the circulation of fake news, whether online or in-person, was a tactic used by those involved with Deadpool 3 to protect its secrecy.
Could the former Harry Potter play Wolverine in the future?
Daniel Radcliffe has expressed no interest in being “locked into a role”in the future, making it unlikely that he will play Wolverine.
In 2022, Radcliffe responded to the ongoing Wolverine rumor in an exclusive interview with ComicBook.com stating, “So many times, people come to me like, ‘hey man, heard the Wolverine news, that’s pretty cool.’ However, I want to clarify that I don’t know anything about it!”
“While I do acknowledge that some people are advocating for a shorter actor to play Wolverine in the comic books, I doubt that the transition from Hugh Jackman to myself would happen. However, I am open to being proven wrong by Marvel.”
In the same year, Radcliffe put an end to the rumors by stating in an interview with G2, “I never want to commit to something that I may not continue to love with the same passion in the future.” This statement serves as a definitive response to the speculations surrounding his future career choices.
