Explaining the Canonicity of Jougan in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex

Explaining the Canonicity of Jougan in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex

Ever since the beginning of the Boruto: Two Blue Vortex manga, fans have witnessed the protagonist utilize various new techniques such as Rasengan Uzuhiko and the Flying Raijin. These techniques have generated excitement among fans, while also sparking curiosity about how Boruto acquired or developed them.

The possibility of learning how these techniques were developed is definitely a source of excitement. Yet, one specific technique’s origins have remained a mystery since its introduction in Boruto: Naruto Next Generations manga. This technique is known as the Jougan, a unique dojutsu.

The dojutsu’s lack of presence in the manga raises doubts about its canon status in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex.

Please note: The following article contains spoilers from the Boruto manga.

Despite not appearing in the new manga series, evidence confirms that Jougan is canon in the Boruto: Two Blue Vortex manga.

The reason for this is that the Jougan makes its first appearance in the opening scene of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations manga, which is a flash-forward scene. In this scene, Boruto and Kawaki can be seen battling at Hokage Rock. After their exchange, the two characters get ready to continue their fight. While Kawaki activates his Karma, Boruto also activates his Karma and Jougan. This confirms that Boruto will utilize the power of Jougan in the future.

Since the events in the flash-forward occur during the timeline of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, it is highly likely that the dojutsu will make an appearance in the manga series. However, it is impossible to determine exactly when this will happen as it depends on the pacing of the series leading up to the flash-forward scene.

Despite this, fans can still expect to witness Jougan in action in the Boruto: Two Blue Vortex manga before the flash-forward scene itself. This is due to the fact that the Boruto: Naruto Next Generations manga did not delve into the details of the dojutsu. Therefore, the sequel manga will need to incorporate a storyline that follows Boruto as he obtains and masters the dojutsu.

What is Known about the Jougan?

Up until this point, there has been limited information available about Jougan, other than the fact that it is a one-of-a-kind dojutsu exclusively possessed by members of the Otsutsuki Clan. According to them, it is a highly troublesome dojutsu.

The manga does not provide any additional information about Jougan, but the anime has offered some insights. Similar to other dojutsu, Jougan has the ability to sense the flow of chakra, allowing the user to track a target using their chakra. It also grants the ability to see the chakra pathway system, tenketsu, and dimensional barriers.

The name “Jougan”translates to “Pure Eye,”which suggests that this dojutsu will have distinct qualities that set it apart from more commonly known dojutsu such as Sharingan and Byakugan. Fans can anticipate a unique experience with this powerful ability.
