Star Wars: The Acolyte follows the journey of a former Padawan who joins forces with her Jedi master to protect their peaceful world from a looming threat.

Thanks to the release of a recently dropped trailer, we now have insight into the plot of the show. It will revolve around Lee Jung-jae, a renowned Jedi master, who must face the deadly actions of a nameless, knife-wielding killer portrayed by Amandla Stenberg.

According to Acolyte showrunner Leslye Headland, her vision for the origin story of Star Wars’ greatest villains was shared with Entertainment Weekly. However, she believed that the most compelling time period to explore would be before the events of Phantom Menace. Headland found the transition of the Sith from being considered extinct to Palpatine rising to power, without the knowledge of the Jedi, to be the most intriguing aspect of their history.
