Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 aims to enhance its predecessor in every possible aspect. This begs the question – will there be an option for character customization?
Ever since its initial reveal, fans of Games Workshop’s sci-fi juggernaut have been eagerly awaiting Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, causing them to gnaw at the bars of their iron cage in anticipation. Or perhaps, that is just our own excitement.
The thought of once again embodying Titus and unleashing the might of the God Emperor of Mankind against the unyielding waves of Xenos that endanger our survival is incredibly thrilling. From the glimpses of gameplay that have been released, it is clear that the valiant warriors of the Emperor will engage in stylish and intense battles against hordes of Tyranids, reducing them to mere bloody remains.
Is it possible for your appearance to be just as fashionable while you vanquish your enemies in the Imperium’s name? Will you have the ability to personalize your character in Space Marine 2?
Space Marine 2: Character Customization
Space Marine 2 offers a wide range of customization choices, both for aesthetic appeal and practical functionality. You have numerous options at your disposal to alter the appearance and equipment of your Space Marine.
These choices are heavily influenced by the tabletop game that inspired Space Marine 2. In essence, it is a dream come true for kitbashers as it enables endless possibilities for customizing your appearance by manipulating different components of your armor and weapons.
Space Marine 2’s character customization will let you recreate your favorite Chapter.
How does character customization work in Space Marine 2?
In Space Marine 2, character customization is a key aspect in both the game’s co-op mode, ‘Operations’, and PVP mode, ‘Eternal War’. With six different classes, players have the option to choose from three load-outs, each offering the ability to switch between Primary, Secondary, and Melee weapons, as well as unique perks for each class.
Even though the idea of changing your playstyle is thrilling, it’s hard for most Warhammer 40,000 fans to resist a cosmetic makeover.
In Space Marine 2, players have the ability to customize the appearance of their servant of the Emperor by choosing from a variety of preset options for the Intercessor, Phobos, and Gravis armors. For those who prefer a more detailed approach, there are also options to individually modify pieces of armor such as the helmet, pauldrons, breastplate, gauntlets, grieves, and wargear.
This game offers an unmatched level of personalization in comparison to its predecessor, while also incorporating familiar elements. Most notably, players can still dress their Space Marine in the distinctive colors and symbols of different Space Marine Chapters.
Space Marine 2’s detailed color customization offers a lot of choice.
You have the option to choose from a variety of preset color schemes of well-known Chapters such as the Space Wolves and Dark Angels, as well as more obscure ones like the Carcharodons and Novamarines. You can also customize each armor piece by selecting primary, secondary, and tertiary colors to recreate a Chapter that was not included by Focus or to create your own unique design.
Although not yet demonstrated, it can be assumed that these customization options will also be available for the Chaos Space Marines in Space Marine 2’s PVP mode. After all, even traitors deserve to have their own unique style.
In order to unlock the different colors, cosmetic options, weapons, and perks, players can complete challenges, use in-game currency, or a combination of both. It has been confirmed that there will not be an in-game cash shop, so all currency can be earned through completing missions and participating in multiplayer sessions.
The highly anticipated sequel, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, will be launching on September 9, 2024. From that point on, players will have the opportunity to customize their own Space (or Chaos) Marine with the most impressive aesthetics.
