Explorers of Diablo 4’s 2.0 PTR have unearthed preliminary information about Season 6, which includes the reappearance of a familiar enemy from D3.
In order to test the changes to the difficulty system, new Runewords, and class-based adjustments, players on Battle.net have entered the upcoming Diablo 4 2.0 PTR at a minimum.
According to Wowhead’s findings, some users were able to uncover the name and theme of Season 6 by digging even deeper. The next season has been titled by Blizzard as the Season of Hatred, which is fitting considering the upcoming Mephisto-focused expansion is called Vessel of Hatred.
The studio has not confirmed these details directly, but a screenshot from the PTR’s login screen suggests what Season 6 holds for Diablo 4 players.
Curiously, the description below the Season of Hatred title hints that players in Diablo 4 will confront “beasts corrupted by Mephisto’s hatred-infused ichor.”
One of the objectives for Season 6 is said to be defeating Realmwalkers. It is worth mentioning that the last time a Realmwalker was seen was in Diablo 3. Players encountered this enemy in the game’s fifth act, and it was necessary to defeat it in order to enter the Realm of the Banished.
On the PTR’s login screen, it appears that Realmwalkers will have a comparable role in Diablo 4 Season 6, acting as the final barrier that players must overcome in order to access the Hell Portals.
With Blizzard keeping quiet on the details, it’s wise to take the aforementioned information with a grain of salt for now. However, as Season 6’s release date draws near, we can expect more solid information to become available in the near future.
The release of Season 6 will coincide with the launch of Vessel of Hatred on Tuesday, October 8.
