Exploring Kidults in Entertainment: BLACKPINK Jisoo, Shim Hyung Tak, Woo Do Hwan, and Iconic Characters like Doraemon and Kitty

In celebration of “Children’s Day”today (May 5th), let’s explore the world of “kidult”celebrities—those adults with a passion for all things cute, reminiscent of childhood.

Leading the pack is actor Shim Hyung Tak, a quintessential figure among kidults in the entertainment scene. His affinity for the iconic animation character Doraemon even led him to meet his future wife. Hirai Saya, his partner and a former employee at the renowned Japanese toy company Bandai, will tie the knot with him in July after four wonderful years of dating.

Another prominent kidult is Jisoo from BLACKPINK, who openly adores the beloved Sanrio character, Hello Kitty. She frequently delights her fans by sharing posts about Kitty on her social media platforms. In a charming collaboration, she even opened a pop-up shop featuring Hello Kitty-themed merchandise to celebrate the launch of her solo album, “ME,”last month.

Although Woo Do Hwan hasn’t pinpointed a favorite character, he surprised fans with his affection for a variety of adorable characters. During the April 28th episode of MBC’s “I Live Alone,” he showcased his pet plant named “King King” and offered a glimpse into his artistic side by sharing his own sketches of cute characters.
