Exploring Pochita’s True Form in Chainsaw Man

Pochita, affectionately known as Chainsaw Man, has genuinely surprised fans since his debut. Initially portrayed as a small orange creature resembling a dog with a chainsaw embedded in its snout, Pochita formed an inseparable friendship with Denji after receiving a blood transfusion from him for survival. This act established an unbreakable bond, and together, they faced numerous challenges.

As the narrative advanced, audiences were introduced to more of Pochita’s character, revealing that his cute dog form was not his true identity. It is now understood that Pochita’s actual form is the formidable black Chainsaw Man, often referred to as the Hero of Hell, a form first showcased during the confrontation with Makima.

Pochita’s authentic form, known as the Hero of Hell, is believed to represent the real essence of Chainsaw Man. In terms of appearance, this form is a towering, muscular humanoid devil with four arms, each sporting a chainsaw.

Like his hybrid transformation, another chainsaw emerges from his head, and he is significantly larger than an average human. His body is encased in armor-like black scales, with intestines wrapped around his neck leading to his stomach.

In terms of capabilities, this form boasts remarkable traits such as speed, strength, endurance, durability, and a remarkable healing factor. Pochita has demonstrated incredible prowess in various battles, with the ability to withstand severe blows from Makima, regenerate from a mere heart, and launch devastating attacks that obliterate structures.

Beyond his intimidating presence and embodiment of chainsaw-related fear, Pochita holds a unique and terrifying power. He can erase other Devils by consuming them, resulting in the complete eradication of the concept or fear they represent from public consciousness, while also annihilating their physical forms.

However, this ability evolved over time. Due to Pochita consuming numerous Devils, chainsaws were reduced to a mere wood-cutting tool. Furthermore, characters like Kishibe have lost memory of events such as the Holocaust, indicating these memories were consumed. Nevertheless, Makima seems to retain the ability to remember erased names, and the War Devil expressed a desire for Pochita to regurgitate the Nuclear Weapons Devil.

Pochita took on his Hero of Hell form during confrontations with the Four Horsemen and the Weapon Hybrids in Hell. During this intense battle, he mysteriously vanished and reemerged on Earth in his canine guise. Unfortunately, details of that encounter were largely left unseen.

His Hero of Hell form is prominently featured during the climactic confrontation against Makima and her minions in the Control Devil arc. Pochita battles and ultimately defeats the Hell Devil (whatever form it assumes during this arc) before returning to Earth, where he meets the anxious Kobeni Higashiyama and takes on Makima’s brainwashed Weapon Hybrids alongside Division 7.

In the ongoing arc, the Hero of Hell resurfaces as Pochita overtakes Denji to combat Public Safety. He rapidly dispatches foes while wreaking havoc across the city, cutting and consuming any Devils he encounters. Shortly thereafter, he faces an assault from Yoru, who has assumed control of Asa Mitaka’s body.

In a flash of action, Chainsaw Man severes her arms, seemingly preparing to deliver a final blow, only to be sent flying by Yoru wielding unexpected gauntlets from the Gun Devil and Tank Devil.
