Assassin’s Creed Shadows is set to introduce an innovative new feature called the Animus Hub. This addition marks a significant evolution in the series and offers players a streamlined menu for navigating their gaming experience across multiple titles.
In conjunction with the new setting of Feudal Japan and the introduction of two protagonists, Naoe and Yasuke, the Animus Hub is a noteworthy highlight. The concept of an Assassin’s Creed launcher has been speculated for years, previously referred to as “Infinity.”Ubisoft has now unveiled this feature, allowing players to engage with the franchise in an entirely fresh way.

Understanding the Animus Hub
The Animus Hub comprises four essential sections designed to enhance player interaction:
- Memories (access to your games)
- Projects (in-game missions)
- Exchange (rewards system)
- Vault (narrative content)
Upon launching Assassin’s Creed Shadows, players will immediately find themselves in a new Animus environment, known as the hacked Dark Animus integral to the series’ modern-day narrative. Furthermore, new quest lines will be accessible, allowing players to “unlock free rewards as they progress.”This feature will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X, and PC. Notably, Ubisoft has stated there are no intentions for the Animus Hub to exist as a standalone entity.
Exclusive Missions and In-Game Rewards

Within the Projects section, players can discover Anomalies, which are exclusive content elements playable solely in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Completing these missions allows players to gather in-game currency, which can then be exchanged for unique rewards in the Exchange section.
A New Currency System

The Innovatively introduced currency called Keys will enable players to purchase new outfits and items within the Animus Hub. Importantly, these Keys cannot be bought with real money; instead, they must be earned through gameplay by completing Anomalies, thus preserving the integrity of the gaming experience.
Included Assassin’s Creed Titles
Players can look forward to the following titles available through the Animus Hub:
- Assassin’s Creed Origins
- Assassin’s Creed Odyssey
- Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
- Assassin’s Creed Mirage
However, it’s important to note that earlier games, including all titles from the Ezio collection and those released prior to Origins, will not be accessible through the Animus Hub. This includes:
- Assassin’s Creed
- Assassin’s Creed 2
- Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood
- Assassin’s Creed: Revelations
- Assassin’s Creed 3
- Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag
- Assassin’s Creed: Rogue
The Evolution of the Animus

The Animus has been a central feature of the Assassin’s Creed franchise since its inception, allowing characters to access ancestral memories. The first modern protagonist, Desmond Miles, provided a direct connection to iconic ancestors including Altair, Ezio, and more. Although Desmond’s saga concluded in Assassin’s Creed 3, the Animus concept continues to play a vital, albeit more understated, role in the series’ narrative continuity.
