Exploring the Tragic Nature of Yuji and Sukuna’s Fight in Jujutsu Kaisen

Yuji and Sukuna’s intense conflict in Jujutsu Kaisen takes on a more sorrowful tone when we consider the genuine bond between the two.

From the beginning, Jujutsu Kaisen hinted at a strong link between Yuji and Sukuna. The main character is not only able to contain the ancient sorcerer without losing his own identity, but they also possess similar characteristics. However, it wasn’t until Chapter 257 that the connection was officially confirmed.

The chapter explained that Sukuna devoured his twin brother while they were still in their mother’s womb. The soul of the deceased fetus was then reborn as Jin Itadori, Yuji’s father. As a result, Sukuna could be considered Yuji’s uncle in a sense.

Despite this revelation, there was no added emotional aspect to their conflict. Sukuna is deserving of the consequences he faces from Yuji for the chaos and destruction he has caused. Upon deeper reflection, it becomes clear that Yuji is not only fighting against his uncle, but also against his own father.

Despite never being explicitly mentioned, it is possible that Sukuna’s four arms and two mouths are a consequence of him consuming his brother. By devouring his sibling, Sukuna’s body fused with his twin’s, leading to his father’s body being responsible for inflicting pain and suffering upon Yuji.

The final battle in the Shinjuku Showdown Arc is a heart-wrenching experience, made even more devastating by a somber detail. Fans have been astounded by this revelation, as one user on Reddit pointed out, “According to biology, identical twins have the same DNA, meaning Yuji is essentially Sukuna’s child.”

“It delves a bit further than that. In JJK, twins are seen as one soul. From a spiritual perspective, Sukuna could be seen as Yuji’s paternal figure,”responded someone else.

“Another individual noted that it was even more heartbreaking that Jin seemed to hold Itadori in high regard, eagerly anticipating his birth despite turning a blind eye to his supposedly deceased and suspicious wife in the process.”

“A fan shared that Itadori has been both the perpetrator and victim of attacks from Body Parts, which is a sad reminder that they should have belonged to his father.”

Despite the clear tragedy of the fight, Yuji remains unaware of his true relation to Sukuna or his actual parentage. However, with only four chapters left until its conclusion, it is possible that Yuji will finally uncover the truth before the end of Jujutsu Kaisen.
